“Pretty good but no where near the real stuff”

I have been here many times and spend hundreds of dollars in meals with friends. The first time our bill for 3 was over $330. The restaurant is expensive and you should be prepared for that!
I highly suggest you order the causas and the ceviche sampler and the lomo saltado. The Lomo will set you back around 39 dollars if I recall. The meat is filet Mignon, so you are paying for quality.

For a better experience and to keep your cost down, lunch is a much better option. Ask for a table in the patio which is now covered. Overall a very good experience of high end Peruvian but for better Peruvian and a more humble option you should fly to Los Angeles.

“Fresh and Light”
Reviewed December 2, 2013

My SF family member treated me here for lunch. If the weather is good and the deck side patio is open without the plastic enclosure, go for it. Otherwise, enjoy a seat in the expansive, plain but not boring, interior and ask for a table near a side window so you can see the Bay.

This was my only my second time enjoying Peruvian cuisine. It's fresh, succulent, with just enough zing to please any palate. She ordered some cebiche (ceviche elsewhere) and, while not a fan myself, it looked amazing -- colorful, artfully presented, delicate and very flavorful. I think I witnessed her eyes rolling backwards at least twice. I ordered the grilled yellow tail skewer that came atop a bed of various sauces with several large thick fried potato slices to complement. We were both delighted with our choices.

I came close to ordering the causas, a new item for me, but because the portions are small (an appetizer, really), I passed. Several plates of them passed our table and they look great -- like small cupcakes. Imagine, a fish and potato cupcake.

Our server was slow reaching us and slow attending to us. I had to motion him over twice to do things he should have already have done.

If you are in the Embarcadero part of town, this place is a must.

“An Experience”
Reviewed November 27, 2013

This restaurant pleases its guests with wonderful views of the bay. The ceviche is top notch and so are the pisco sours. Take caution with the pork sandwich. It was mostly a slab of fat. Other than that the remaining sea food and leche de tigre were superb.

Great tapas at the bar during happy hour. Loved the ceviche and steak skewers. Very cheap compared with restaurant menu prices but less selection.

The service was poor but the drinks and snacks were good. Expect to go get your own drinks at the bar. At least the bartender was super sexy.
