I stumbled upon this place with my family after a trip to Alcatraz and was pleasantly surprised. The ceviche was delicious as well as the fried chips and plantains they started us with. I ordered the steak and it was cooked perfectly. However, because of the prime location the price was a little steep. The ambiance was great and they were very accommodating with a toddler so I would definitely recommend.

We went to La Mar for a group function for 12 people. We had to sit on the patio for a party our size. San Francisco weather can be cool, foggy, or sunny. It was sunny but windy so the restaurant put up a wind curtain. We stayed warm but it was very noisy. I enjoyed the appetizers but the entrees were not as well-executed. Go for the cebiche nikei which was outstanding along with the empanadas de aji de gallina (chicken). Along with the meal, they give you a bucket of fried plantains and sweet potatoes, I could have eaten the entire bucket. We also had the chorillana (catch of the day) but it was overdone. The lomo saltado (stir fry beef) was well done which was disappointing. The brownie lucuma sounded good but wasn't as the flan was on top of the brownie and difficult to eat. My menu said it was chocolate flan but it wasn't . The appetizers were the highlight.

We were visiting San Francisco & asked our hotel concierge to recommend a good restaurant & they recommened this Peruvian Restaurant. We have never had Peruvian food. It was the first time we wete a bit concerned but wanted to try something new. We got there and were offered the menu. The staff was so friendly. We mentioned to the staff that we have never had Peruvian food and that if he could recommend us some dishes. The staff was excellent & recommended us couple of dishes. We got Dungness Crab & couple of other dishes. OMG it was excellent. And the dessert panacota made from some Peruvuan fruit it was awesome. 100% recommended, worth trying it.

This was so unexpected, awesome cuisine in tourist central.

Excellent service, location and views. Our server was engaging and very helpful in navigating a menu that was quite foreign to us.

While I cannot attest to Peruvian authenticity the flavorful profiles were highly addictive. Sublime ceviche ...and who knew Octopus tartare would be so amazing? Wow!

Pretty much captures the experience. We will return while in SFO.

Wow this place is bad. There is no way any of these people have actually ever been to Peru or tried authentic peruvian cuisine. The portions are WAY too small for what you're paying (portions are big in Peru and in any other peruvian restaurant in the States that you step into). I left hungry. Food was flavorless, the leche de tigre which should be full of flavor tasted like nothing. The size of the causa was a joke as was the amount of ceviche served. The causa was decent, but nothing to return for. I would never go to this place again. There's got to be more authentic, flavorful peruvian food in san fran.
