I surprised my husband for his 63rd birthday at La Mar. My husband loved the food. The restaurant is located at Pier 1.5 which supposed to have a view but it was raining that night. We sat outside that was covered and with heat lamps. It was actually very cozy and not stuffy. The waiter was very knowledgeable about my dietary needs which made me very happy. He checked with the chef to make sure all my dishes were gluten free including the sauces. We tasted the cebiche mixto (mixed ceviche) Excellent. For anticuchos, we had corazón (beef heart) and
pulpo (grilled octopus). Excellent again. We loved their fried yucca and banana chips. For dinner we shared the chorrillana which is a Monterey Bay white sea bass. Everything was delicious. We really liked their chicha morada. It tasted even better than some of the restaurant we tried in Peru. La Mar Cebicheria Peruana is now on my "Keeper" list. I will definitely go back there to dine again!

Located in the Embarcadero area of the City, this was our first visit to La Mar Cebicheria Peruana. One would definitely recommend reservations ... regardless of what day of the week as this place is busy ... busy.

The menu is fantastic ... highly recommend

La Mar is my favorite Peruvian restaurant. Every time we go, the food quality is great. The ceviche is always fresh and delicious. Other favorite dishes: Lomo Saltado, Arroz con Mariscos and Picarones (typical dessert looks like a fried doughnut with a nice syrup). The restaurant is located in front of the bay. It has an ample dining area and a nice outdoor sitting area to enjoy the view of the bay. It also has a Pisco bar and a ceviche bar. Try to make reservations at least a week in advanced, especially for a Friday or Saturday dinner. The good thing is that you can go without reservation and sit at the ceviche bar which is first come first serve. It's a little bit pricey but totally worth it.
