We stayed at the Fairmont for 2 nights. It is a large timeshare/condo. It has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. otel staff was very nice and they have a car that will take you anywhere within a 2 mile ride. The hotel is in a perfect location right outside of Ghiradelli square so it is so easy to walk anywhere. They have an amazing breakfast in the morning. It is a graet place to stay.

Our familyof 5 stayed in one of the 2 bedroom residences for 6 nights during spring break and we would go back in a heartbeat. This is a beautiful property, as you would expect with a Fairmont, with comfortable, well appointed rooms. As great as the facility is, the staff is even better. The front desk, bell men, butlers, housekeeping were all first rate. The property is small, and they knew our names by the second day. No request was too large or small and each was greeted with a smile.

After many trips to SF and always staying on Nob Hill, I'll admit I was a little worried the location would be crowded and noisy, but not so. The big crowds are closer to Fisherman's Wharf and the street in front of the hotel was actually not busy at all. The shops in the square are closed by 8 and there were no issues with noise, even in our room overlooking the fire pit in the square. The location is convenient to the cable cars and public transit.

The residences are in fantastic shape, very clean and convenient. I'm not one to cook on vacation, but if you are so inclined, the kitchen is certainly adequate. A light continental breakfast is offered each morning. The "reception room" where breakfast is served could get crowded, but we just took ours back to the room and enjoyed it there. Afternoon wine and cheese was a nice touch.

We liked having a 2 bedroom. Two kids slept in one room and the youngest was fine on the sofa bed. Call me spoiled, but this mom is not sharing a bathroom with 3 boys. The master bath was large with separate shower and tub. The secondary bath was also nice, but no separate shower. They both did have a door for the WC, which is harder to find in some older hotels.

A huge plus for us was the house car that will take you within 2 miles of the hotel. This was particularly nice during peak times in public transit. We called after dinner and were picked up within 15-20 minutes and driven back to the front door.

Room Tip: We were on the first floor, which I usually won't take becuase of noise, but there was no issue...

Amazing A++++ hotel perfect across the board. Went on vacation with wife and three small kids to SF for a couple days. We were looking for someplace convenient to activities since we didn't have a lot of time in town. This place was highly rated on trip advisor so we went for it. We rented a two bedroom suite. My wife got there with the kids a day before me and both she and the kids were blown away by not only how nice (and huge) the rooms are but how incredibly hospitable the staff was. The room itself was great and i will say it again - huge. plenty of space for a family of 5 to spread out and take over. We had the room inside the clocktower which was cool and had our own roofdeck balcony but we were also closer to all the rooftop mechanicals so was a little noisy at night. And outside the room is a lovely deck with views overlooking the bay and alcatraz. As for the location, it was great. An easy walk to the cable cars, fisherman's wharf, ferry to alcatraz, lombard street, etc. Very nice location. I would recommend anyone being tourists with kids to stay in this part of town, since we were debating this vs. union square and we don't really know SF at all. The service was probably the best anywhere i have ever stayed. The staff all know who we were and went out of their way to be nice to us. They have a handy suv that will take you around if it is available. The concierge was terrific at recommendations, including recommending we get a rental car to go to Sausalito and Muir Woods one afternoon, and then he does the paperwork and the car is just there ready to go. Honestly, for a two day quick sightseeing stayover, this hotel and its staff were actually perfect. Nothing bad to say (other than it is not cheap) and I would HIGHLY recommend this hotel to families looking for a great place to stay.

Fabulous spacious 2 bedroom suite , fantastic view of Alcatraz . This is the best hotel we have ever stayed in .Loads of storage space , huge wardrobes and the best beds ever . Housekeeping were great , our room was always spotlessly clean . Excellent breakfast with a good choice of pastries , cereals and hot food . This was constantly replenished by the very friendly staff . The location was perfect , we used the trams a lot because thet were so close by to a tram stop. The concierge booked our tickets for Alcatraz and also sorted out a hire car . Excellent service again . I loved San Francisco and will be back , it will have to be this hotel .

Room Tip: you can't beat the view of Alcatraz !

I'll write this review from the perspective of a family of 3 on spring vacation. We had our 9 year old with us.

Positives: the hotel is the most spacious hotel in any city I've stayed. we booked a 2 bed room which had a living area and a kitchen with all the features of an apartment. The hotel is conveniently located next to the wharf to see Pier 39, the sea lions, and Nice views of Alcatraz and the GG Bridge. The hotel is within Gharardelli Square with some shops and restaurants near by. The breakfast was included each morning, but get there early because they run out of the good danishes every morning. They also offer a wine and cheese every afternoon, but they do not provide water nor sodas during the afternoon reception. I felt this was an annoying oversight for a room that costs $1,000 a night. One of the best perks is every room has a dvd player and flat screen tv, and the hotel offers an extensive dvd library of hundreds of movies. DVDs are free and they give you free popcorn as well. We had a family movie night every night which was a nice amenity. The best amenity they offer is the free suv limo service. We used their car service about 5-6 times during our stay. They take no reservations for the car, but you simply call them when youre ready and if its free, they take you anywhere in the city you want to go within 2 miles. We saved hundreds of dollars in taxis and tips by taking their suv to Coit Tower, Pier 39 multiple times, Pier 33 to take ferry to Alcatraz, multiple trips to Chinatown etc. It was like having your own personal limo driver and was an outstanding amenity!! The drivers were knowledgeable and friendly. Our 2 bedroom apartment was $899 a night before taxes, and we booked a special, rent 4 nights and get the 5th night free. It was $4,000 for 5 nights including all taxes. Pricey, but worth it for us.

Negatives: There's nothing to eat after 8pm from the hotel. Theres no restaurant and no bar, so plan accordingly. They offer "room service" from some local restaurant but they charge a ridiculous $25 delivery fee, plus 20% delivery free on top of outrageous prices and high sales tax. We werent about to pay $50 for our kids grilled cheese sandwich. So, lack of dining is a major weakness for this hotel. There is limited places to eat at night unless you walk towards pier 39. Another negative is there are lousy street performers outside in the square and the sound resonated in our hotel room. I think the performers were related to the Gharadelli Square and not the hotel. Finally, for $1,000 a night, the breakfast could be more robust. Offer sodas and bottled water for guests, and make sure you dont run out of items every morning.

Overall, wed stay here again if it were a little less expensive.

Room Tip: get a room higher up away from loud street performers. Also get to breakfast no later than 7:30am if...

Our suite had amazing views of the Bay Bridge, the Golden Gate Bridge and Alcatraz. Great central location for tourists and easy access to taxis. Staff was either overly solicitous (annoying and fake) or downright rude, which was a bit surprising to us.

Room Tip: Without a view, not worth the cost.
