“Nothing Better in SF”

What could be more romantic, more energizing, more condusive to finding that moment of inner peace than the view from a 30 foot patio of a one bedroom suite of SF bay from the Golden Gate Bridge to Oakland? On a sunny day (or any day) in SF, nothing. Sailboats, seals, swimmers...there all there.
Room 314. Remarkable. Kitchen (fully equipped), fireplace transformed tourist experience into home experience. Location above Ghiradelli Squre only dilutes experience a little.
Staff is very guest focused. Management indulges also in guest needs.
Great location for exploring and easy to get to the GG Bridge and Presidio from there.

A real treat for your next family get away. Beautiful open living area with fully equipped kitchen. Luxury furnishings and decor make it feel more like a home than a generic hotel. Common Breakfast room a bit too small. Staff amazing, thanks

The marina area is usually where I try to stay when I am the best kept and most attractive major city in America. The Fairmont properties are well kept, centrally located and perfectly appointed. The neighborhood is mixed between touristy spots, not my favorite, and glimpses of what San Francisco so compelling. The Fairmont belongs in the latter and not the former category.

Loved our room, especially the comfortable beds and modern kitchen. Staff was pleasant, free breakfast was much nicer than expected. The location is fantastic-less "cheesy" than the rest of Fisherman's Wharf but still in a fun, family friendly area. Walked to the crooked street and other nearby restaurants. The outdoor balcony overlooking the square had a very VIP feel. We took advantage of the free car-nice touch!

Unfortunately, there was continuous loud thumping for 8+ hours a day coming from below our room-including at 10pm. The staff seemed clueless about the noise and didn't provide much more than a "will look into it" We are very laid back people who are used to city noises, so trust me when I say the sound was really annoying! Plus, the stopper was broken in the tub in our room and when I fixed it and filled the tub, it was filled with dirt & hair. Ew.

Not sure it deserves the 5 star ranking.

Room Tip: Avoid the 2 story corner room above the chocolate shop!

I felt like a king staying at this establishment. The service was great, the room was great. I have never had a bad experience at any Fairmont location. I am lost for words as i cant find anything i didnt like about this hotel. I will definetly make this my "go to" hotel when im in SF. Keep up the great work and i will see you in March!

Even with the old world and everything, the property is not worth 1000/night/two bedroom.

So if you really like the location, to go the next door Kimberly hotel, that's better and much cheaper (1/3).

The service and all are good like any 5 star hotels. Breaksfast, wine and cheess receipton are nothing to get excited about.

Room Tip: ocean view costs 100 more

We stayed at the Fairmont Ghiardelli Square over Christmas with our children. The location of the hotel was suburb. Right near the wharf with plenty to do in the area. The service at the hotel was very attentive, and the hotel car service was a huge help. The concierge recommended a few restaurants for our family, none of which we liked, unfortunately. One of the restaurants, in fact, was an upscale Chinese restaurant, pre-fix, and not at ALL a place for children. My kids are foodies and very well behaved, however, I think the concierge should always take into account the needs of the family, which was certainly not the case for us. Our room was disappointingly dirty, with hair in the bathroom and on the shower walls.....ugh. The wallpaper was also peeling off the walls in the bathroom. For $800/night, I was definitely disappointed. The breakfast in the morning was plentiful, although the area you ate in was also dirty. There was food and crumbs everywhere. Our family travels often, both luxury and for travel hockey. I have stayed at very upscale resorts, and Hapmton Inns for travel hockey. This was definitely not a 5 star property in my eyes. Location: great. Everything else: fair.
