Owner description: The world’s only aquarium-planetarium-rainforest-living museum. Come nose-to-beak with penguins and parrots, watch sharks and sting rays cruise beneath your feet, and feel the spray of the California coast. Fly to Mars (and beyond the Milky Way!) from the safety of your planetarium seat, take a virtual safari in African Hall, or climb into the canopy of a living rainforest. Face your fears—and an albino alligator—inside the Swamp, and meet scientists as they return from research expeditions around the world. From the depths of a Philippine coral reef to the outer reaches of the Universe, it's all inside the California Academy of Sciences.

This was interesting to see. For the price though it seems pricey to me for what you get to see, Depending on the hotel you stay with some offer a $4/off per person.

The exhibits at the museum are fantastic. One particularly nice feature is having experts scattered around to answer questions or just offer extra information. Loved the aquarium section. We went to 2 planetarium shows: one on earthquakes and one on cosmic collisions. Nifty!!! We went on a Saturday and it was crowded but not overly so. Everything went smoothly. Would recommend this to everyone visiting the SF area. But be prepared to pay thirty bucks for admission. It's twice the cost of the Denver Museum of Science.

The Academy of Science had a lot of unique exhibits, with lots of interactive ones. There is an aquarium, a rain forest, a green roof, and an earthquake simulator. We didn't have to wait in line for anything, despite that it was pretty busy on the day we visited. The cafe was expensive, but they had a huge variety of food, and it was local, and very tasty. I appreciated that they had lots of healthy options available - it wasn't just hamburgers, pizza, and hot dogs. The planetarium costs extra. We found ourselves walking back and forth a lot, because not all the elevators went to all the floors, there was only one set of stairs to the aquarium, and the exit to the rain forest only let you off in the basement (the aquarium). This is a great place, not just for kids, but people of all ages.

We had a really enjoyable time looking around the aquarium, planatarium, rain forrest etc and even took in a talk on earthquakes.

The albino alligator was popular with my daughter and also the feeding of the penguins. We were really impressed with the aquarium and enjoyed the rainforests of the world.

Well worth a visit when planning a day out in Golden Gate Park.
