I loved listening to the audio on my phone all about the cathedral and it's history. It' up on a hill so the view point across the street is great for photo ops too.

I attended sunday Mass. It was a beautiful experience. Everyone was so kind. The stained glasses were great pieces of artwork. The exterior design was fantastic as well.
the beauty of the cathedral is breath taking but at the entrance were "suggested" donation amounts requested. I just found this in bad taste.
Grace Cathedral is located on Nob Hill in San Francisco on Taylor / California Streets. It is highly recommended and a must see for architectural and cathedral buffs. American cathedrals rate relatively low compared to those seen in Europe but Grace is quite pleasing and as beautiful as St. Patrick’s in New York and the National Cathedral in DC.
Grace is open for walk in visits on most days and of course for services, please check the website. Parking is expensive in SF. There are garages close by which will charge a very high price to park. The cable car (California line) runs right by the cathedral as well as the 1 California bus line which goes up Sacramento Street on the North side of the cathedral. Exit at Taylor Street.
It was a passing visit, on this day we witnessed the ordaining of two Deacons and two Priests, quite an event with all the pomp and ceremony, not something you will see everyday, but it appears everyday and some event or other.
You really must stop in to this historic and wondrous cathedral....The stained glass windows, the designs on the walls.....It's all simply magnificent....If you can attend an Evensong or other musical event, do so....The choir delivers achingly beautiful pieces of ancient music...
