“Must see”
Reviewed May 19, 2014 via mobile

I am so glad we put this as a must see on our list. The outside structure is magnificent and reminds me of Notre Dame in Paris. The church was amazingly open to the public. I took several pictures of the interior sanctuary, altar, and stained glass window? they turned out well but couldn't capture the ambience. It was curious to see the ribbons hanging down. I think we were the only ones there..we saw it on a Saturday

“A place of peace and reflection”
Reviewed May 13, 2014

A stately cathedral reminiscent of the architecture of Notre Dame. It's at the top of Nob Hill, and there is both an inside and outside labyrinth to walk. (It takes longer to walk than you would expect.)
When we were there, there were hundreds of long colored ribbons hanging from the high ceiling. It gave a festive or regal feeling.
If you can catch an organ recital, or a service there, you will be treated to a fantastic pipe organ with reverberating sounds through the large spaces.

“A place of rest, peace and beauty”
Reviewed March 29, 2014

Friends had recommended us to visit here. We had presumed we would be able to visit from the hop on-hop off bus tour we took, but it is way off the route for that and was quite hard to find from Union Square which was the closest stop. It is a steep climb up to it on those famous hills, but well worth it when you get there. Outside it looks like the frontage of Notre Dame in Paris. When you step inside it is like stepping into a comforting womb, enfolding you in a loving embrace. The ribbons hanging down across the nave, the beautiful stained glass and the labyrinth make this one of the most beautiful and God-filled cathedrals I have ever visited. We attended a Thursday morning Eucharist, which was a blessing having been away from home for over 3 weeks. Good cafe and gift shop down in the basement. A very Anglican Cathedral but with catholic representations. Just right!
