My Husband and I stayed here on our honeymoon a couple of weeks ago and we both really enjoyed our stay. The hotel knew it was our honeymoon and gave us a lovely room with a view of union square along with sparkling wine and a photo frame. The room we had was very spacious - the closet was bigger than our previous hotels bathroom that's how much room we had! there are a number of things that i was particularly impressed by with this hotel, those being complimentary WiFi in our room, huge comfortable bed, free coffee and cookies everyday (which were amazing) and a little rubber duck for our bath! when I stay away from home its little touches like this that I love! we would defiantly recommend staying here.

Excellent location close to Union square. On the last night we found a cockroach in our barhroom. When telling the hotel staff they just shrugged so they're probably not uncommon.

Parking the car cost ca $30/day.

I am not even going to dignify this with a response other than to say: This is what is wrong with review sites... People can post things that are completely false and there is nothing we can do.

Thankfully, I believe 99% of TripAdvisor users see right through people like this that create an account and make their one and only posting like this. However, it still stings.

San Francisco is our last stop for our honeymoon. We chose to stay with Chancellor hotel after we saw the review in tripadvisor. It turned out that we became part of the happy customers of Chancellor hotel.
We got a room at level 10 and facing the Union square. We could hear the sounds of the street when we open the window, but it was not a problem for a light sleeper like me, as the noise level was quite low after 11pm.
The room is a bit small, but it's quite complete. You basically got everything you need in the room. They even have a pillow menu, where you can order two extra pillows from the menu. They offer 12 different kinds of pillow for you to order, isn't that fantastic?!
The location is also fantastic. The shopping area is just few blocks downhill, the cable car station is just right in front of the hotel, and there are few good restaurant nearby the hotel as well.
Overall we have no regret choosing Chancellor hotel as our last hotel during our honeymoon.

I've stayed at Chancellor twice now and both times have been excellent. The rooms are clean and tidy, bathrooms are reasonably spacious, beds are comfortable and it's in a great location. I'll be staying again when I return to San Francisco.

The staff at this hotel are excellent and go out of their way to assist you.

We stayed at the Chencellor in March - what a great boutique hotel. All the staff were friendly and helpful. Room had a peak of Union Square. Small, but it had everything we needed (very large walk in closet if you need that!). Reminded us of hotels in Europe. You can walk or cable car to everything. Loved the location. Wolud definately stay there again.

I definitely think the best description to give for someone to get an idea of what the hotel is like it to say it is like the hotels in Europe.

Thank you for appreciating us!

My wife and I stayed at the Chancellor Hotel for 5 nights in mid-April and were extremely pleased with our accommodations choice! I did a lot of searching around online and prior to booking and the Chancellor turned out to be the best value for wanting to stay near Union Square in the "heart of San Francisco" - in fact, it's pretty much in Union Square (we could see it from our hotel room). The staff was great and very easy to work with (and also out of your way if you don't need them) and the room was great - actually a little bigger than I expected for a boutique-style hotel in this city. You really can't beat this hotel's location combined with it's service, views and charm. It's right next to Sears Fine Food too - which is a huge plus (eat breakfast there)! It's also right on the Powell/Hyde trolley line and you can get a multi-day pass, or just do like we did and use the Uber App on your phone - which was awesome. While you're there, definitely do an Alcatraz tour, catch a Giants game if you can, see Haight-Ashbury, Ghiradelli Square, Fisherman's Wharf, Farmer's Market at the Ferry Building and take a day tour to Sonoma/Napa Valley (we recommend Green Hills Wine Tours).

If you were like me and were looking around for a while online, seriously stop now and just book a room at the Chancellor! Seriously, do it...no, for real.

Room Tip: Ask for a room up high with a great view of Union Square and/or Powell Street. Not only do the highe...

Nice hotel in a perfect central location. Rooms are small but hey, if your spending all your time in the room, your missing the most awesome city! Nice touch having the free snacks in the lobby and the little bar area is cool too. Brilliant location for the shopping and also on the main tram line to the Wharf area. Rooms on the Main Street are a little noisy but who cares, your in a busy bustling city! Can't fault this place at all!

Yes, the rooms are small and well said! I look at our rooms like a cruise ship cabin...Small but efficient to sleep and change in, but everything you want to do is out and about so your not spending any time there anyways.
