Stayed here on a Bloomspot prepaid coupon promotion. Lots of history and in a great area at the top of Nob Hill and close to cable cars. Rooms are enormous as it was an old apartment building although a little tired. Restaurant bar great for drinks and bar snacks with a great piano player most evenings. All in all, a good value and a great stay.

Dear artfrommaui,

Thank you for reviewing your recent stay with us, and we appreciate that you took the time to do so! We're glad that you enjoyed your visit -- from the historical aspect of the hotel, to our large rooms, to our wonderful piano player in the Big 4 bar, Michael. He does a terrific job of adding a special element to the classic ambiance of the Big 4. We look forward to welcoming you back home to the Huntington upon your next visit to San Francisco. Cheers!

Sincerely,

The Huntington is a beautiful old hotel with a magnificent pool and spa area. Its staff are very eager to help and very friendly. The rooms are quite nice. However, this place is really not suited to the business traveler. The rooms lack basic coffee/tea kettle equipment, and there's no room service after 10, so if you want a cup of tea late night or early morning, you're out of luck. There are hardly any outlets in the rooms, and you're forced to move beds to reach plugs to charge your phone and laptop. There's only one restaurant, very high end, and not a quick place to grab a bite. There's virtually nothing in the area to walk to, no coffee shops or drugstores in walking distance, only 1- 2 restaurants nearby (and this is a problem for the nearby luxury hotels as well). Finally, the room service food is quite poor and overrated. I ordered an inedible cheese pizza and glass of wine; cost $30.

Dear slwjosh123,

Warm wishes from San Francisco! Thank you taking the time to write a review of your recent visit to the Huntington Hotel. We're pleased to hear that you enjoyed our friendly staff, the pool and spa, and your room. Your comments on the lack of amenities for the business traveler are very important to us, and we'll take them into consideration as we continue to try our best to meet the needs of all of our guests -- leisure and business travelers alike. We appreciate that you were specific in your comments, as that will help us to fine tune the overall guest experience. We do hope for your future visits to San Francisco that you'll give us another chance to make the Huntington your home away from home. Thank you.

Huntington Hotel is a pure luxuary experience.

Plus
- Big rooms with great views.
- Located in a very safe part of town.
- Great service from all the staff.
- Cosy bar and restaurant.

Minus
- Internet connection was not included in the rate, free WIFI where offered in the lobby.
- Even though the location is great and not far from the city center it's loacted on one of the highest hills in SF. You will get tired going back to the hotel...
- As the doors to the rooms are not soundproofed you will here everything that is going on in the corridor.

My spouse and I spent 4 very memorable days in SF during July and very happy with our choice of Huntington Hotel. It is close and accessible to most of the Cable Car lines ( California street stop was just outside our hotel) and well as close to the Powell and Mason/ Powell and Hyde lines. Union square is a 15 minute walk away ( downhill is ok but the walk back and up is rather strenuous so take the cable car if you can. The hotel is very clean, and staff pleasant especially Jason who met us at valet service. Room was nice and spacious and bathroom too was comfortable. We had a lovely street view overlooking the Cathedral and park . It was really nice to listen to the clanging of the approaching cable cars as they passed by our window. Knob hill has many luxurious hotes
l to choose from and the Huntington was a good choice and value for money.I certainly will recommend this hotel. The only snag was that internet was not free and the connection not very good.

Room Tip: ask for a room facing the park.

Great location and very welcoming Staff.

Pefect for shoping, weekend relax or business (but not mass convetion).

Walking distance to many sights, yet not in the noisy dowtown. Close to rentacar facilities. With great views and fantastic little park just cross the street.

Elegant, but cozy. Petit, but exclusive :)

Always tried to make our stay more comfortable (i.e when there was a problem with our room o the 1st night, they changed us into a spacious suit for the rest of our stay)

After a late arrival they managed to find a table in BiG4 - though the restaurant was full. Lovely food & perfect service - but watchout - unfortunatelly no true vegetarian option, which we wanted to order.

Complementary allowed to use the shower facilities after check out before long haul flight.

Actually we prolonged our stay - to enjoy one extra day in Napa and SFO.

Area for improvement: old telephone machines, which often didn't work properly - always busy lines and no signal. Especially frustrating when wanted to contact the valet to bring our car (parking is not in the same building) or contact concierge.

Room Tip: make sure thet have confirmed the room number of beds (2x queensize does not mean with 2 queen size...

Hello Anna R,

Thank you for your review! I'm happy to hear that you enjoyed your recent visit with us, and I appreciate the specific information on areas where we can improve -- including vegetarian options in our Big 4 Restaurant and updating the telephones in the guest rooms. We will look into both of these issues to improve the guest experience. Our Front Office Manager Geraldine was thrilled to see your thank you note applauding her service! We truly pride ourselves on our staff, and we're happy that you felt comfortable and cared for during your visit. We hope to see you again the next time your travels bring you to San Francisco!

All the best,

We always seemed to be going up hill so got a good workout while staying at the Huntington. Room was fantastic, clean and spacious. Staff were helpful especially the doormen who offered to bring up a high chair when they saw we had a child with us. Convienently located to what we were doing while in town and also quiet and safe. Would definitely stay there again.

We stayed at this hotel for three nights at the end of a one month trip around the world, it was our finale splash out but for US$400 per night it was not great value.
The positves were some charm, a lovely upgrade to a large and spacious suite with views over the city and down to the water, and the staff were good on the whole, The disappointing part was the details, as the fourth SLH we stayed at in as many weeks it just didn't match up, and it was the most pricey far.
The rennovation from the original 1925 apartments were lacking, the lovely antique style furtniture was charning but the bathroom and kitchen were extremely out of date.
It was the only hotel we did not have either complimentary wifi or tea and coffee facilities, to pay US$8 each for a cup of tea in the morning was frightening, when there was a kitchen but with no facilties in it,
The 'big 4' resturant was very elegnt.
