We stayed five nights and received an upgrade to a Park View room on the 4th floor overlooking Huntington Park. The room was very large and the bathroom quite the biggest I've ever seen. The public areas by contrast are quite small but in a city like SFO you'll be out all day anyway. The Big 4 restaurant is lovely with lots of green leather and dark wood pannelling; we had dinner there only once but breakfast every morning (the blueberry pancakes are to die for!) and the hostess in the mornings was so friendly, as indeed were all the staff we encountered - service is clearly something the management focusses on. We didn't try the spa but it seemed popular. There are 2 computers with printers for guests to use so ideal for surfing and sorting out travel arrangements. We would definitely stay here again and Nob Hill is a wonderful location.

We stayed here for three nights. For our first night we were greeted with an upgrade to a suite on the corner of the top floor. We had sensational 270 degree views of San Francisco. The remaining two nights were spent in our nominated room but it was still beyond expectations. The quality of service was the best for our whole trip in USA/ Canada. From the desk people to the very classy door people. The hotel has a proud history and the interior of the rooms matches the era.

I stayed for two nights for a friend's wedding and have mixed feelings on this hotel. The room was comfortable with some great in room amenties. However, the hotel is old and the rooms could use a new update. If you don't fight for an updgraded room, the room is average and there isn't any sort of view. Not really worth the money. The staff, especially the doorman were friendly, helpful and efficient. The spa was very nice and I enjoyed the bar/restaurant.

Room Tip: Fight for an upgrade to get a nice room.

This hotel is converted from apartments, has an old european feel of the railroad era. service is just average. our room was a little musty and they place could use more art. The spa may be one of the best in the city, very quite/private. Spa offers a terrace that overlooks the city and you can reserve a private table with meal service there. Easy walk across the street to Grace Cathedral and a park full of a.m Thai Chi folks that you can join. All roads lead up to this hotel so you might want to use the cable car on your return trip.

We stayed at The Huntington for the first stop on our honeymoon and it was amazing! We were upgraded to a suite on the top floor with panoramic views of the city. The rooms are really quaint and we loved the hotel - James the doorman is so lovely! It's located on one of the highest points in San Francisco so the walk up the hill is a nightmare - it's actually cheaper to get a taxi rather than use the cable car!

My husband and I stayed at the Huntington on our wedding night last month and had a wonderful stay. We booked the special occasion package and arrived at the hotel in our wedding clothes, as we had come directly from the reception. We were a bit disappointed that the desk clerk did not seem to notice the fact that we were obviously a newly married couple - she gave us her congratulations once my husband told her it was our wedding night - not that we were pursuing an upgrade or anything free. It would just have been nice to have a little more fanfare!
The hotel itself is beautiful and much fancier than anything we're used to. Our room was spacious with an enormous bed and separate sitting area. There were 2 sinks in the bathroom and we had a view of the Cathedral and cable car line. A few minutes after we got to our room, a member of staff brought up a bottle of Champagne on ice with a note from the hotel staff. This was part of the package we booked and not a surprise, but it was nice nonetheless.
The bed is genuinely one of the best beds I've slept in, if not the very best. I didn't want to get out of it! And I'm not kidding when I say it was enormous. When I woke up, I thought my husband had got up as I couldn't find him at arms length, but no. He was just really far away!
As part of the package we'd booked, we had a coupon for 2 continental breakfasts which we were told by staff that we could redeem up to $30, so my husband opted for bacon and eggs and I went for pancakes. For some reason they brought me blueberry pancakes, but I didn't mind and ate them anyway. The restaurant has a "business-casual" dress code and, being in our mid-twenties we don't usually rock the "business-casual" look, so it's something to keep in mind if you tend to err on the scruffy side. There we plenty of tourists there, but we didn't spot any denim.
There was some minor confusion over our breakfast on checkout, but other than that we had no problems. All the staff were friendly, including the doorman who hailed us a cab outside. All in all it was a lovely stay in a clean and spacious room, but for us it was a wedding night treat hotel and not the kind of place we'd stay on a regular holiday.

The Huntington was really nice. The staff was exceptional!! Very friendly, professional, and helpful. We took the advice of other reviewers and asked for a recently renovated room. Our room was huge! We were upgraded to a suite with a kitchen, eating area, and living area. Our room also had an awesome view in 2 directions. This hotel is on Nob Hill, so everything is downhill, which means quite the hike or waiting for trolley to get back. We paid quite a bit for our room because we booked last minute and availability around town was slim due to a convention. Overall, we had a wonderful stay!
