We tried the main site for their other hotels and saw the Kabuki. We selected this location sincd we could not find a room at another location. It was quite a surprise - good size - quiet - loved the shower and tub room as well toilet all separate from one another. Staff were great and friendly. We were in Japan town and had a great selection of restaurants. The gardens were beautiful and added great atmosphere. Would stay here any time.

Room Tip: GEt valet parking. Worth the little extra.

I was in San Francisco on business and had to stay over, downtown is busy, loud and crowded. But a hidden gem exists out in Japan Town just a few miles west of the financial district. Straight out Geary St is Japan Town, a beautiful asian cultural pocket. Nestled here is the Hotel Kabuki, a beautifully maintained property (though not all new), but nice, clean and attentive in service, even to the point of a nice rock garden and koi pond off the main lobby.
The rooms are nicely appointed, clean and crisp, coffee, tea, robes, and amenities, like 3 plug outlets on the desktop and a USB charger, nice and thorough. The safe is even large enough for ur computing power to be locked up before you go out for the evening.
It is literally connected to the asian shopping center, great for some small gifts, some great small snack meals and great bakeries. Across the street are some great eateries, and even some karoke bars, always fun.
Also, there is a nice lounge in the hotel, the Izakaya Lounge, with great happy hour prices, and some wonderful small plate snacks (the Mac n cheese is low priced and filling, and the ribs are small but tasty).
To get there from down town, go to Geary and Market Street and catch the 38L bus, for merely 2$, you can go west and get off at Laguna (after going up the hill), and walk 1 block to the hotel.
A good find and worth an extended stay, highly recommended.
Cheers,

Room Tip: All look good, but just to be safe, above 2nd floor might ensure a pleasant stay.

We stayed here and booked three rooms. One of the people in our party didn't end up showing, and they returned the room the next morning with out even asking!?! They let us have a super late check out, and the location and the hotel is perfect especially if you are going to a show at the Fillmore!

Very convenient location in Japantown. Our club king was large, clean, well decorated, with a Japanese "air" without being kitschy. Nice view. The package we got was unbelievable, included convenient valet parking, champagne and chocolate, breakfast for 2, and passes to the spa baths. The value was first rate. The staff was very helpful, especially as we were, unknowingly, coming in right before a large otaku convention at the hotel. Breakfast was American style (would have loved a Japanese option), but the quality was well above what we were expecting. We did not get a chance to try the attached O-Izakaya, but looked very cool. A baby bed was provided for our daughter, and the staff was patient with her. This hotel definitely exceeded our expectations, and we had a wonderful time. Somewhere between a large hotel and a boutique, with a theme that is more than superficial (koi pond and spa bath, for example). Not much to provide constructive criticism on--there were beautiful cast iron tea settings in the room, but no tea (and when tea was brought it was in bags despite the presence of filters in the teapot--we will remember to bring loose leaf next time, but this was a bit odd). The staff seemed a bit outnumbered once the convention kicked in, but as they didn't lose their smiles, this was not an issue.

Last time I stayed in a corner room that had a king sized bed. The room was huge. This time we got in early and they didn't have any king sized corner rooms ready yet, so I took the first available. Since I am average size for a female it didn't really cause problems for me but I realized that the shower head was right above my head this time and the two double beds seemed very small in comparison to the king corner room...the size difference was not a problem for me, but for someone who is taller I don't know how they would shower without getting it right in their face. I love the bath tubs since they are short, but deep. As always the staff was extremely helpful. This is not a hotel for tall people.

Room Tip: If you are taller request a king corner room.

Went for a conference and it was a nice two nights stay. Wish the breakfast buffet was a bit more healthy or wish they had ala carte ordering options they tell you about. Its in japantown so great asian food and short uber rides around town

The welcome at the Hotel Kabuki was wonderful. The lobby, gardens, and restaurant were lovely. Our room left something to be desired, however. Furniture, walls, bedding, etc. were worn and dated. Expensive for the room quality.

Room Tip: Ask for a room that has been remodeled recently.
