Had a wonderful stay at this B&B for a girls weekend. Everyone made us feel so welcome and at home. You can not beat this location! The food is wonderful-complete full breakfast that was different each day and always included a home baked goodie. We were greeted in the afternoon with the most amazing cake. We truly felt like we were visiting our favorite relatives during our stay. Can't wait to bring my daughter here for another weekend!

We stayed here for 2 nights in May in the Golden Gate Room. We got here after check-in but they had all the info we needed to help us find our room. The room had lots of character but a little cluttered. The bed was very comfortable while the bathroom needed a little upgrading. Our hosts were very nice and loved the wine & cheese in the afternoon and having home made cake for a late night snack. The breakfast's were great - something different every day. The gardens in the back were a nice reprieve from the city life and a great place to have the delicious breakfast. We had french toast one day and eggs benedict another day - so good! The area was also a gem - a great place to walk around and explore the restaurants & shops. We ate at Cafe des Amis and the food was great! A nice b & b in a great location.

Room Tip: The Golden Gate room was good but faced the busy street. Choosing a room facing the gardens would b...

.....what do you want from a B&B/hotel? At a minimum, surely, a bed that is comfortable to sleep in and a shower that is useful. Here we fail on both counts. The shower is a "please excuse the shower, we're a victorian building and so it's not great".....um.....as a Londoner that grew up in Victorian houses, I know this is not an excuse and I know the money they charge....they could fix this.
The bed......Oh My God! We were on honeymoon. We walked in and loved the place. The garden out the back was great. The decor was so kitsch it was almost cool again. But the bed! Imagine sitting on a bed where even the divan sags! Imagine then your partner sitting down next to you and knocking you over with the rebound! We literally had such bad sleep the first night our backs were in pain. So we took the mattress off and put it on the floor. That was when we realised they had put a 2 foot by 3 foot piece of plywood in the middle of the bed!!!! Are you KIDDING! What sort of cowboy job is that? It was like looking at a trapdoor in your divan. I checked underneath, expecting a tunnel to Narnia, but no dice.
The final insult in the room was the carpet. It was sticky. No doubt the result of a cleaning process that didn't go to plan (have had the same issues before at home) but still, it was so bad that we actually videoed my foot stepping up and down just to prove to our friends that the noise it made was that loud :)
The breakfast was lovely and the little cheese and wine hour they do at night was also a great way to meet other guests. The garden (as I said above) was also a delight. But you cannot forgive a B&B when the Bed is Bad.....the clue is in the name ....Bed and Breakfast.
Honestly, this place charges a fortune for what it is and if we hadn't laughed so much about it we would be crying. It was our honeymoon and the bed was bad. Oh dear.

Room Tip: Ask for a firm bed. The carpets may have been changed and the showers updated. Just be aware of al...

You cannot beat the Owner and the Innkeepr at this B&B!!!! Jane and Kit are the two Aunties you always wanted, but maybe never had! You'll want to invite them to your home. But aside from that huge plus - the location cannot be beat. Union Street is clean!!!! and there are no homeless people or people that would intimidate anyone - ever. The street has high end one of a kind shops and bakeries and flower markets and restaurants and bars and pubs. There are people walking around at all times and you feel safe. Even at midnight. That is priceless!!! The parking parkade is one block from the B&B and you cannot beat $15 a night. That is unheard of in SF and this is a very well maintained and guarded underground parkade with bright lights. The vistas are something out of a movie - sweeping views of the Golden Gate Bridge and the Bay and beyond. Simply breathtaking. We felt so lucky to have found the Union Street Inn and after all our travels around SF we never once wished we were staying elsewhere. Not once. Union Street is a true gem and gives a wonderful experience to a SF visit. This B&B is best for couples or singles or two people travelling together or couploes travelling together - as compared to with children. I am not sure if children are allowed - probably - but it largely is a delightful place for adults and super fun for couples or singles of any age. Any age - young or older. We travel the world on a regular basis and we try to stay at wonderful unique places and this is just that - and more. LOVED IT and loved the motherly charm that Jane and Kit provide and they run the place with great talent, dignity and coziness. If one is lucky enough to stay here - don't pass it up. Wonderful yummy breakfasts that look out of a gourmet cook book and they even offer up water and wine and coffee and tea and cookies to cozy up to in the parlor at night no matter what time you come in. Soft music is always playing. Lights are always on to welcome you home. We found no issue with the water pressure. It was not a raging fire hose but it was perfectly fine and I have long hair and it didn't bother my husband or I one bit and we showered every night. We stayed in the Golden Gate Room overlooking the charm of Union Street and we loved it. I am a light sleeper and still had no issue. Very delightful room. If the other rooms were open I peeked in and they were all wonderful too. You can't go wrong. There is a reason why this is the #1 B&B on TA. Well done Jane and Kit and we hope to see you again in the near future. We left our heart in San Francisco and at the Union Street Inn!

Room Tip: Easy to get to all sights. We highly recommend renting a vehicle in SF. Traffic in city is not a p...

It was totally wonderful experience for me and my sister.
The breakfasts were fantastic and the staffs were really frinedly.
If I have chance to visit San Francisco again, I’ll undoubtedly stay in Union Street Inn again.
I already miss everything of the place ㅠㅠㅠ

My daughter and I shared the Golden Gate room for three nights at the end of a wonderful girls week in SF. The room was so comfortable, the location was great, and the hospitality provided by Jane, David, and Kit was perfect. Breakfast was delicious and cheese and wine was available each evening. Union street has great upscale shops and is within easy walking distance or a quick bus ride to Fishermans Wharf. We would definitely stay here again!!!

My wife and I stayed at the Union Street Inn based on the TA reviews, and very glad we did. The Inn is located in a trendy area of town within walking distance of the Wharf and Ghiradelli Square, and is also along a trolley line. The breakfasts were amazing! The parking isn't great, as we had a car from the previous part of our trip, but that is typical of anywhere in SF. But the proprietor did have directions to a nearby parking garage and conveniently arranges to have the parking fee added to our lodging bill. They had good advice on how to spend our time in SF. The bed was very comfortable and the patio was a beautiful place to enjoy a quiet breakfast. We'd definitely stay here again.
