This place is insanely excellent in every way. If you want a luxury B&B this is your place. We stayed here for our honeymoon and we were very impressed. I haven't got a bad word to say about our stay. Only thing is, this sort of quality does come at a price, but it is proportional to the service you are getting. David and Jane are excellent hosts. Jane is famed for her delicious, diverse breakfasts, which are out of this world, but it's her cakes that are really worth writing home about! Location is fantastic as well. Union Street is a great center for more low key San Fran night life and is home to some excellent bars and restaurants. Perfect for a romantic weekend away!

Room Tip: The English Garden room has a little patio!

My wife and I spent two nights at Union Street Inn, which we chose based on TripAdvisor reviews. We weren't disappointed. Our room (Wild Rose) was very nice and surprisingly quiet, with a comfortable bed, nice appointments, and a lovely view of the inn's garden. The shower can be a little quirky, as a placard in the bathroom warns ("Victorian era pipes"), but that was only a minor issue. We loved the location in the Cow Hollow district--an easy walk to restaurants and shops on Union Street, but without the traffic and noise of downtown San Francisco. We had rented a car, having spent a few days in the wine country, but we wound up walking or cabbing a good bit of the time. The breakfasts at the inn were delicious, and we really enjoyed talking with the other guests. A highlight of the inn is the beautiful English garden in the back, where we would have a glass of wine or two in the afternoon. We really enjoyed our stay and would certainly go back next time we're in San Francisco.

We enjoyed a lovely few days at the Union Street Inn. It's a comfortable, welcoming, 'British-style' B&B, with great breakfasts ( cooked up by Kit and Jane, during our stay), round-the-clock access to tea and coffee, gorgeous cookies, and 'wine and cheese' in the evenings. Union Street itself is great, with nice shops and restaurants, it's easy to catch buses from here to other parts of the city, and it's only a 20 min walk to the Golden Gate Bridge, or 40 mins to Fisherman's Wharf.
The 'innkeepers' are friendly and welcoming, and also very helpful if you need any information or advice on SF. We would have no hesitation in recommending this B&B to anyone visiting SF, especially if they find 'chain' hotels a little sterile, and fancy somewhere a bit more quirky and personal.

My wife and I enjoyed three fantastic nights at this homely Bed and Breakfast property. We were delighted by a high quality innovative breakfast each day and the staff were excellent offering freindly caring service. The facilities are fantastic and the postion is ideal. The property sits in a quaint village with great shops and restaurants and you can enjoy a walk to the Golden Gate bridge with ease. We will stay here again! Thank you.

Room Tip: Pay a little extra and book a room at the rear.

We stayed at the Union Street Inn for 4 nights.

The people who run the place are delightful - friendly, helpful and professional. We stayed in the New Yorker room. It was very roomy - big enough for a chaise longue and a small sofa. The room was a bit cluttered with antiques for our personal taste. The bed was comfortable with good linen. The bathroom could benefit from a bit of a makeover.

We took breakfasts in the charming lounge. In warmer weather I'm sure we'd have been in the lovely garden.

A permanent plate of cakes to dip into and wine and cheese in the early evening were lovely touches. Delicious breakfasts and a flexible approach for us, as we're not keen on waffles or pancakes, was really appreciated.

Kit and Jane made us very welcome. They gave excellent tourist advice and we really enjoyed our stay.

This B&B Is located in a wonderful part of SF. A bit away from Union Square it is located on a lovely street, Union Street, with lots of shops, wonderful restaurants and a pilates studio or two. Lovely for window shopping and dinning in early to late evening. A real neighbourhood feel. This is the real SF!!
The accommodation is as charming as the owners. If you want to see inside a lovely SF Victorian this is your chance. The breakfast is awesome and with 24 hour tea, coffee and sweets what could be better. Rooms are clean and in tip top condition!

Ideal location in the Cow Hollow section of the city. Darling boutiques & cafes abound. Several notable restaurants including Betelnut & Des Amis are steps away and a well regarded French cafe, Gamine, is just next door. The steps up to the Inn are a bit challenging with a heavy suitcase but certainly "do-able." Inside is a bit of the U.K. in the city. Charming English chintzs, china, knick knacks etc, plus a wonderful & very colorful English garden just out back of this Victorian townhouse make for an idyllic atmosphere. We stayed in the English Garden room, overlooking the garden. Great decor and fabulous bed & linens. There was a small terrace off our room where we enjoyed our breakfast each morning. Breakfast, as other guests have noted, was oustanding: fresh squeezed juice, fresh fruit bowl, homemade muffin. One day the entree may be french toast, the next a spinach frittata. Jane is ever gracious and helpful and the same was true of Kit (David was out of town.) Although our room was adjacent to the kitchen and sitting room the morning sounds were not a problem for us. If you are a light sleeper and plan to sleep late every morning you might wish to choose another room. There is tea and wine & cheese in the afternoons, which, like breakfast, is complimentary. All in all a delightful experience that we plan to repeat!
