Had a great stay at the White Swan Inn, Bush St. San Francisco CA. Spent four nights and was astonished at how super a job they did with a good sized but cosy, fireplace room and a superlative breakfast, plus wine in the late afternoon. Staff was very friendly and helpful.

This hotel with it's huge rooms (as big as my living room at home), four poster bed, gas fireplace and windows to open and let in a breeze, was fantastic. I booked this room for $202 total a night, and got free breakfast, wine & cheese in the evenings when I was there, and a cozy home for 4 days. Staff is great, they know the bus schedules, the area. About a 3 minute walk to chinatown gate, same to Union Square, and two blocks to Powell Street cable car. This was a great location and I'll go back. City Chopsticks down the block has great food. And there's a small terrace, it's between buildings but there's plenty of greenery and nice to get outside. Very safe and pleasant feeling. Great common rooms with fireplaces also to hang out, and lots of books.

Room Tip: I had a room with dark wallpaper, which bothered me a bit because that made it kind of dark in the d...

We just came back from this hotel few hrs ago and in simple words it was GREAT

1. it was me n my husband's anniversary so the room was decorated with petals which was really nice

2. the hotel is old since 1914 but it is really like a vintage style, very different from all other hotels, cozy and u feel at home

3. our room was great in the 5th floor, room 56 we had a chimney and it the wall paper is full of flowers which makes it more romantic n cozy

4. the employees and nice and helpful at any time

5. the breakfast was disappointing so i wld recommend i don;t include breakfast in ur package however the good point is that u have cookies baked everyday so u can have a snack + coffee, tea & apples are served all day in the lounge. in addition they said that from 5--6"30 they have like a happy hr with wine and some few things but we didnt have the change to check it out

overall this hotel makes u feel as if u r in the 70's which is great + the location is few blocks away from chinatown & union square so everything in general is close

My husband, me, and my teenage daughter had a few days to sightsee in San Francisco this January. I did tons of research before selecting the White Swan Inn. As other reviewers have said the room was large (compared to other hotels I looked at) with 1 Queen(or King) very comfortable bed and a sofa bed for my daughter (not very comfortable). It was very clean and maintained well every single day. The breakfast was a great added deal:fresh fruit, melon grapefruit etc., cereal, oatmeal, delicious pastries, meat(I don't eat) qiche, hard boiled eggs. The room includes free of charge soda and water bottles.Coffee. tea, hot chocolate and cake or cookies is available in the dining room/ den always.(included). The staff was totally friendly and helpful.

Room Tip: If you need a second bed, our sofa bed mattress was not very comfortable so keep this in mind

This is a wonderful hotel in every aspect--friendliness,cleanliness,location and charm!! We would stay here again and look forward to another trip to San Francisco. The early evening wine and snacks were a most welcome treat after a day of playing Tourist.

Room Tip: Our room was located in the rear and very quiet

We were welcomed as friends to this most lovely Inn...It was our 45th Anniversary and a beautiful welcome note with wine & goodies awaited us in our most wonderful, huge room ...perfectly equipped...everything that could be thought of was supplied!
The breakfasts were delicious and we met some great fellow travellers...we would meet back at the end of each day to share experiences and much delicious wine (great brands) and appetizers! The Staff was always ready and willing to help...Andy, (we were not sure of his title)...was the best...always there to handle any question or just to share a friendly chat! The freshly made cookies each day were to die for! The location was perfect...we easily commuted all over SF! We bought a 3 day pass which took us on any mode of transportation and we used them all...but we loved the Cable cars best! We walked all over too! So much to see and do...and the people are so proud of their city and so willing to assist...there were times when, had we expressed any doubt , we are sure they would have aborted their plans and taken us to our destination! We Loved the White Swan Inn...we could not help but feel that wonderful 'Joie de Vivre' ! Thank you Molly, Andy and all!

It is an old hotel but they work at keeping it up. It is lovely like old England, Cabbage roses notwithstanding. The staff was very helpful and friendly. Each room has it's own gas fireplaces which was great fun. Our room was in the back of the hotel and very Quiet. A very good value.
