“Our home in SF”

We've stayed at this wonderful B&B twice in the past two years, and hope to be back soon! The people are always super nice, the breakfast is great, and the afternoon wine and cheese is a nice touch. Not to mention, we love the North Beach location - tons of great Italian restaurants around and City Lights bookstore, etc. . The smaller rooms are very affordable considering the quality and location.

We found this wonderful place on Select Registry & this has changed our views of how we will travel in the future! We were always Marriott travelers but will continue to look for Select Inns for our vacation travels. We had made reservations for one night & decided at the last minute to try & stay in the city for two nights. I called ahead & they were able to accommodate our additional night. Our room (10) was small but the most comfortable bed of the trip. We were given wonderful recommendations for dinner and their breakfasts are filling. We will definitely stay here in the future!

Thank You for taking the time to write us a great review and mentioning “Select Registry” a group of what we consider the best Inn’s in the United States and Canada. It was a pleasure having you as our guests.
Thank You! Maria, Dan and the staff at the Washington Square Inn.

My husband and I recently traveled alone for a wedding in San Francisco. We had stayed at the WSI several times over the years and it remains one of our favorites. The inn is clean, warm and always has an interesting clientele. The breakfast and afternoon wine/cheese are a special treat. The only negative is if you are wanting to sleep in, do not chose a room on the street. The street noise begins very early and is very hard to sleep through.

Room Tip: chose interior if you want to sleep in

Thank you for your comments, if you are a light sleeper we recommend our rooms that our located facing the light well away from the street. Even though we are on the quiet side of Washington Square Park there is a lot of activity that generally quiets down in the evening. You can also make sure the double insulated windows are closed as well as the plantation shutters, which really helps. Thanks for being our guests.

After staying in the Washington Square Inn for 4 nights last fall, we've found our "home" whenever we return to the San Francisco area. The location near Coit Tower in North Beach's Little Italy neighborhood is convenient by foot to ristorantes, galleries, entertainment venues and by car to the Golden Gate Bridge, Sausalito and wine country. The rooms are well appointed and the staff is friendly, helpful and accommodating. Breakfast is delightful and Happy Hour with a variety of wines and delicious hors d'hoeuvres is not to be missed. We've recommended WSI to friends and hope to return soon.

Our daughter lives nearby. My wife and had noticed the inn on a previous visit. To avoid a cramped apartment we recently stayed here. It's quite nice and homey. The rooms tend toward small, as do the bathrooms, but that's not uncommon for older properties. We found everything about our three nights to be very agreeable. The staff if friendly and helpful. The atmosphere is low key and relaxed. We'll be back!

My wife and I were returning from Hawaii and needed to overnight in SF so we chose this inn from the "Unique Inns" website. We weren't familiar with the North Beach neighborhood and were really pleased to discover it.

This is a quintessential "Small Inn" with only 15 rooms so those looking for BIG HOTEL amenities should move on however if you like charm, personal service and great comfort look no further.

It was a quiet night when we were there so we were able to look at a number of rooms. They range in size (and price of course) but all the rooms we looked at were great. If you can splurge go for the corner bay window rooms!

Breakfast was continental but quite good with great coffee and the staff were all very friendly. The location is fabulous although I was a bit winded by the time we got to the top of the street to see Coit tower!

I'm sure we'll visit again and would recommend this Inn to all "Inn-Lovers"

Being from Australia, we were not familiar with the city and were very pleased with our choice of hotel. We stayed at the Inn for 5 days and found it to be so much better than the larger impersonal hotels. Location is excellent, close to many fine restaurants, and within easy walking distance of Fisherman's Wharf, Ferry Terminal and Market Street shopping. Staff are friendly and quietly efficient. "Happy hour" each afternoon allowed guests to mingle in a friendly atmosphere and compare days activities, restaurants etc. Because we were late in booking we settled for Room 3 which is smallish and the bathroom is very small. However, this did not deter us and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We highly recommend the Inn.

Room Tip: Book early to obtain one of the larger rooms.
