The Queen Anne is a regal and fascinating step back into SF history. It's easy to feel connected with the city's past in this hotel. The staff was so helpful and professional. The breakfast was a step above average and having coffee and tea available throughout the day is appreciated.

I cannot say enough nice things about this hotel. We enjoyed our stay immensely. The hotel is a gorgeous Victorian from the mid-19th century. It is full of history and stories. The hotel is decorated with antiques - even the sprinkler system pipes running through the rooms give it an antique feel.

When you walk around at night, when the hotel is quiet, you feel like you're stepping into the past. I definitely recommend at least one night here as a treat or vacation. I wish we could have stayed longer.

Given the antiques and quiet feel (it's like a large B&B), this is not a good place for small children. Most of the guests were couples, but we did see a couple of families with older teenagers. The feeling in the hotel was very respectful, and the guests spoke in hushed tones.

I loved the breakfast room. Not only was there a huge variety of breakfast items to choose from, but it has an old parlor feel, with a fireplace and beautiful curtains and details. The actual parlor and sitting area near the main staircase has more fireplaces, paintings, and gorgeous decor. Coffee and tea are available 24 hours per day, and the front desk is monitored.

The hotel has free parking and free Wi-Fi. It was easy to get around the city from its convenient location.

The rooms are large and comfortable. Even the smaller rooms feel big because of the high ceilings. I loved the antique wardrobe, bed, and tables. We had a coffee maker and fridge in our room (a king room). Despite the antiques in the room and main areas, our bathroom was updated and modern with fluffy, soft towels. Our friends had a fireplace room with a little sitting area and a huge canopy bed, so we spent most of our time in there - again, it was absolutely lovely and so comfortable.

If you're a history buff, this is definitely the place to stay. The local ghost hunters society has tours at 7:00 every night if that's your thing. I also recommend The Queen Anne for honeymoons and romantic vacations. It's a great escape from the city without actually leaving the city.

Room Tip: Ask for the Mary Lake Suite (4th floor) if you're a ghost hunter.

Me and a friend stayed here for 2 nights on a girly-Californian-getaway.
The hotel offers everything you need on a quick visit to San Fran. Warm welcome, concierge, comfortable bed, good and more importantly safe location and the staff is always happy to guide you with tourist information and maps are available at reception.
The hotel`s location is perfect if you want to visit the main attractions, even on foot or the nearest bus stop is 10 min walk.
Breakfast was included in our stay. Although it`s only continental, there was plenty to choose from, boiled eggs, sausage, waffle and pastries, tea, coffee and juices. The only bad experience I came across was the stroppy receptionist in the morning, when all I asked if we could enjoy our breakfast in the lounge instead of the breakfast room. I could see he was busy with some paperwork and all I got was a very sarcastic answer from him.
Other than that, everyone is nice and approachable.

If you are used to modern deco in 5 star places, this hotel will not meet your expectations. This is a truly Victorian style old fashioned boutique hotel.

This hotel is a little off the main touristy area, about 6 blocks away from the nearest cable car at California and Van Ness. But the bus system in San Fran is pretty good and we used that most of the time. My wife and I got the MUNI pass and used buses more than cable cars. I found the cable car lines to be too long, the cable cars too infrequent and crowded, not to mention cold at night.
Anyway, the hotel was quiet, in a residential area. It is a nice area, no bums around, which can be a problem in San Fran. It was quite close to Japan town, though not much happening in Japan town really.
Our room was nice and spacious (we were in 409). The bathroom was pretty big. The bed was nice and soft. My wife really liked the decor. One downside for me, as this is an older boutique type hotel, they don't have AC. San Fran stays pretty cool at night, but it was hard to cool the room down at night with just our one window open for some reason. Bugs weren't a problem with the window open. Gotta love the west coast!
Service was OK, often times you had to wait for people at the front desk to show up. But they were nice when they did show up. Breakfast was good, a bit nicer than your average continental I thought. They had fruit and sausages (and hard boiled eggs).
The afternoon sherry and cookies is a nice touch.
I would stay here again and recommend this to other travelers.
San Fran is a pretty pricey place for hotels and the Queen Anne gave us a nice place to stay for a pretty good deal.

We live about 70 miles S/ of SF. This was for a one night stay while we went to the Asian Art Musuem. First of all there is parking provided across the street for about $20 a night. This about half what some other places charge. The hotel is in a quieter area and we enjoyed having our windows opens at night. Quiet and nice fresh air, not canned ac. We had a fire place and it was neat having a little fire going for several hours. The bed was comfortable and we both slept well. Lot's of nice wood and Victorian style furniture. We enjoyed the different style from typical hotels.

Great service. Lots of help with picking a nearby restaurant. Walking distance to Japan Town and some other restaurants within walking distance. Breakfast was not spectacular, but typical continental fair. Fresh fruit, bagles, crescents, cereal, eggs, waffles, etc. Sherry and cookies at 4:00 PM. Not much for Sherry but the cookies were good after dinner up in the room. My wife and I enjoyed our stay. Most everyone was over 45 and it was comfortable w/out lots of kids running around. Easy to have a conversation w/other guests if you wanted to. Lot's of Europeans visiting. If you are over 50 you will most likely enjoy your stay.

I Stayed here for two nights. Although a gorgeous lobby & reception areas with fireplaces, I found the rest of the hotel to be very cold and uninviting. There is no heating in the hallways, and I'm sure there would be no A/C either. The decor is elegant, very Queen Anne style as the name suggests. The breakfast was included in the price, so therefore, really can't complain, but nowhere near the standard of other hotels where I have stayed. Just the basics with only hard boiled eggs, some type of sausage pattie and waffles for hot food and then bagels, croissants, a few cakes, bananas and cereal. There is 24 hour coffee in the foyer, which is a good thing as there is no coffee maker in the room .My room looked out on to a very close building and a fire escape. The bed was comfortable enough, no bar fridge, a table and two chairs, a small closet and a flat screen TV. The clock radio was falling apart and not able to change the time or switch off the alarm. There were grubby marks on the white painted doors, but otherwise the room and bathroom were clean. The hotel is in a very nice and quiet residential neighborhood, and a nine block (25 minute) walk to Union Square or you can walk two blocks across to Post St and catch the bus, and on the way back you get the Sutter Street bus which stops almost at the door.
I think the "Concierge" needs to upgrade his attire from khakis and a polo shirt to something a little more befitting his position!

My adult niece and I stayed at the Queen Anne for a few days. We found the staff (especially Joey) accommodating, attentive and friendly. We loved our room with the fireplace and the peace and quiet of breakfast downstairs. Is this a top line B&B? Maybe not to some people but they treated us like queens and we thought the price was reasonable for San Francisco. We were hoping for a few ghostly experiences and came prepared with various devices. We were not disappointed. In fact, the only thing disappointing about the trip was saying goodbye to our friend, Bob and others at the Queen Anne. I look forward to returning.

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from the elevator and a fireplace is worth it to relax by after a long day of si...
