The location of the hotel is perfect as it's only one block away from Union Square. It is nestled within a historic building which houses the SF Playhouse. The atmosphere is relaxed but with a touch of grandness combining the charm of antiques, rich woods, and hints of modern.
This hotel excels in customer service! They are extremely accommodating and will ensure that your stay is as comfortable as they can provide. Vincent, the front desk manager, is friendly, professional, and will do his best to accommodate any special requests.
I must mention Thai, part of their maintenance crew, he is so friendly and spot on with his recommendations for Asian fare.
The rooms are adequate, quiet, clean, but on the smaller size. There is no air conditioning which could be helpful on a warm day. Leaving your window open during the day helps with the room feeling a little bit stuffy. Beds are comfortable but quite soft. Bathrooms could use a bit of an update as they show wear and tear. Sinks are particularly low and the makeup mirror was placed a bit high.
Every day they offer complimentary coffee and tea in the morning and sherry in the evening. Overall a great value for SF.More
