We were travelling as a family (2 adults, 2 kids) so had a room with two double beds. The first room they gave us was very small and we simply couldn't fit all our luggage in it. So we asked to see if there is a bigger room which they were very helpful and gave us one that was marginally bigger (for $25 extra per night) - it was still relatively small compared to some of the others we stayed at on our holiday. The room had no fridge (on checking out they said we could have asked for one but I don't know where it would have fit in the room) and despite saying there was in-room dining when we asked on the first night they told us they didn't do that any more. The location is great (although the room was noisy at night) and the staff were generally very helpful but overall we just didn't find this a great place for a family holiday in San Fran.

We stayed for one night.

The location is handy for downtown San Francisco albeit a bit noisy.

We found the receptionist to be helpful and really liked the concierge.

The room was clean and comfortable and coffee and orange juice was available in the corridor in the morning. There was no orange juice left when we got up but we had a coffee.

Travelled to SF with my family last summer June 2011 (TripAdvisor does not allow any earlier period than Nov 2011 in the drop-down menu) and opted to stay in this lovely boutique hotel. The location is good, not smacked right in the middle of Union Square with all the tourist hype yet convenient enough for intermittent stops at the hotel throughout the day. As my 82 year old grandmother was with us, the location was really a boon.

The rooms are slightly small, but it is sufficient for our purposes. The beds are comfy, and surprisingly wide enough to sleep 2 persons even (disclaimer: we are Asians, so consider our smaller frames!). The bathroom amenities are also quite nicely appointed.

The only gripe we had was that there were no electric kettles in the room - if we needed hot water to make drinks, we had to go all the way up to the 9th floor (we were staying on the 8th) to get hot water from the breakfast table area. I hope the hotel management has managed to improve this by now.

Eating was a breeze - tip: a 10 mins brisk walk around the corner leads you to Sears, the famed breakfast place.

We stayed here for three nights, very nice room.. No fridge though which was a little disappointing. Bathrooms were small because it was an older room but the location made up for it, literally right around the corner from union square. Make sure to check out union street, china town and a must to eat at is Hops and Hominy not far from the hotel.

Logistics hadn't allowed me to stay at the Kennsington Park for several years. After a four night stay at the end of September I can say that the quality of the hotel has just gotten better. The bed is the most comfortable I've ever had and the service is impeccable. The location, a block from Union Sq, gives you a great location but a little less crazy than outside the St Francis.

The lobby is lovely and a good place to hangout and socialize. The concierge is great and the front desk staff is very helpful. The rates were very reasonable. I recommend paying a little extra for a room on the 11 or 12 floor.

Room Tip: Outside facing room on11/12 floor
