Jan is the perfect host, as well as excellent gourmet chef. Our room, the White Room, had a bay window overlooking the city. All one could expect from a well-run bed and breakfast. About 1/2 block from the Muni underground and the historic trolley car stop, which takes you straight down Market St. to the Embarcadero and on to Fisherman's Wharf. In the heart of Castro area, with good selection of restaurants, bars, etc. Looking forward to returning to this charming old San Francisco inn. Jan is prepared to answer any questions about the city.

Room Tip: Rooms at back may be quieter.

I've stayed at the Inn over 30 times in 20 years of SF visits. Jan, the owner during that timespan, knows San Francisco, the neighborhood, and how to provide a delightful B&B experience. The cozy 1970's "Tales of the City" decor endures and never gets old. The Breakfast is King; you won't find a better one anyplace. And, without a doubt, a location that is splendid to explore the Castro and rest of SF: The Inn is just a 1/2 block from the Muni Station and F Line terminus.

Stayed 2 nights and have no complaints. Jan is the best host and can give you great advice for sightseeing. Another huge plus is the wonderful breakfast he prepares - can't beat it! I would Tay there again.

We spent two weeks at the Inn on Castro and definetly loved it! The staff is welcoming and friendly, good location next to a subway station and a F line stop and above all exquisite breakfast! Only drawback: the room next to castro street is a bit noisy a night. But they do offer earplugs.

The inn has everything for making your stay great. The breakfast is one of the most gourmet I've had. It's not the cheapest place, but it guarantees you'll be on the right spot, just a block from all the castro bars, dolores park and on a walkable (I love walking thru SF streets) distance from heigh ashburry.

Room Tip: I stayed at the yellow room, very quiet, nice bathroom

one of the most tranquil B and B's I've stayed at..
The inn itself is beautifully appointed and well-maintained by a discreet and thorough housekeeping staff that always seemed to find the right time to clean our room when it was NOT an imposition. And, the breakfasts, prepared by Jan, are wonderful, varied and made-to-order (no sad array of packaged goods on a side table here!)

location for us was ideal, quiet and serene, but only a few steps to walk across Market into "the Castro"

Room Tip: We had one of two suites that are entered via a side door, thus providing us privacy in coming and g...
