Found the Inn via the web and booked the Casseli apartment. Lovely self contained apartment in a picture perfect and quiet street.

The Castro area is great and makes you feel like you aren't just surrounded by fellow tourists. After a day of sightseeing, it really felt like coming home. Castro street has some great bars and paces to eat and we loved every minute of our stay

From the moment we arrived we were greeted by our lovely host Jan who not only made us feel welcome, made us feel like we were at home. His breakfasts are to die for and make a perfect start to the day. The Inn is in a fantastic location right in the Castro district. Close to fine dining, transport and bars/clubs.
A perfect ending to a fantastic holiday and cannot thank the staff of this place more than enough.
Cant wait to visit again!!!

The Inn on Castro is outstanding. It has a real family, cosy feel to it. The location was central to everything we needed. The Inn on Castro sits close to the intersection of Castro and Market street. Two blocks from each way of the intersection has everything you need from great restaurants, dance clubs, bars to awesome shopping. As we entered the Inn on Castro we were greeted with a warm welcome by our host. A lovely man that sat both my partner and i down and gave us a run down of the area. He also suggested things to do as our stay was really short and we wanted to maximise our sightseeing time. One of the things he suggested and you have to do is bike ride across the Golden Gate bridge. We were also given maps of city and train/tram and a list of restaurants worth eating at that didn't let us down (suggest Catch and Starbelly) and invited to breakfast upstairs every morning.

The room was clean and tidy with room to store bags etc. Unfortunately our only issue with our stay was the shower. You could never get the temp right as hard as we tried. One minute it was just warm and then with a turn of the tap slightly it was instantly hot. It was probably just us though and should of brought it up with our ever so gracious host.

All in all a great stay and we will be back to stay here in the near future. Just this time it will be longer. Thanks Inn on Castro, you were the best start to our holidays in the USA.

We were just delighted with this place. Excellent location, clean (though small) room with a lot of character, and everything worked right. Service and attention to detail were stellar. Jan, the proprietor, could not have been more charming or welcoming. He works his butt off to make sure you have a good experience. His breakfasts were truly outstanding, in some ways the highlight of the place. We will definitely return.

First stay at a bed and breakfast and did my homework on TripAdvisor. Solo traveler and arrived without a reservation. Reservations are via phone or email but not online. Sent email requesting information and received a quick response. Friendly staff and friendly location. One key to enter building and one key to enter room and so secure. Room was on first level with private bath down hall. Old home on main street adds to the character; but be prepared for the draft and the noise. The heater in the corner, the extra blankets and the free ear plugs are indications the inn keepers strive to address such issues. Internet was free and fast. The reviews comment on the excellent breakfast but I was curious as to the process. And to my surprise the inn keeper cooks to order with a variety of options. Breakfast was fresh fruit, juice, muffins, bread, and three cheese scrambled eggs.

San Francisco is not a new city to me but I have not explored Castro extensively; so I was pleasantly surprised with the offerings in Castro. Anchor Oyster Bar is excellent. Inn on Castro is close to public transportation and restaurants and entertainment and so would be a wonderful alternative to a hotel downtown.

We chose The Inn On Castro first, for location,in the center of the Castro.
Second ,because of the reviews on this web site.
And we are very happy with our choice.
We came for the Castro Street Fair and the location of this Inn is perfect. Steps to all of the fun.
We have stayed at other B & Bs in the area and this is our favorite, so far. Inn On Castro is also very close to public transportation so it is very easy to get around the city.
We had the Patio Suite which has it's own outside entrance separate of the main entrance and access to a backyard patio. Very private.
We enjoyed the breakfast every morning, with a choice of 2 cooked to order specials in addition to fresh fruit, cereal.bread, coffee and juice.
The owner was very friendly and charming and we enjoyed our conversations with him in the morning at breakfast and also with other guests.
The room wa spacious and clean. My only small complaint would be the size of the bathroom, a little small.
We have already decided if we are to return to San Francisco we would definitely stay here again.

Stayed with Jan 3 nights and really enjoyed the accommodation and Castro area. Minutes walk to lots of nice restaurants, good shopping and interesting scenery. Public transport is easy to any part of the city, Golden Gate or the beach. Our room was comfortable and the bath perfect for us. Be ready to fill up at breakfast, they're great. Thanks Jan for a nice stay.
