Wok Wiz Tours has been in business for 30 years and was founded by the late chef/author Shirley Fong-Torres who designed her tours to showcase one of the most remarkable neighborhoods in San Francisco: Chinatown. Each year, we bring thousands of guests, of all ages, from near and far, to our vibrant area. Every Wok Wiz tour leader was either born in, or grew up in Chinatown, giving a very local flavor to the tour, and each speaks fluent English as well as Chinese. Wok Wiz Chinatown Tours remains a San Francisco icon. “Engaged the whole family”
Reviewed July 24, 2014 via mobile

Our tour guide Frank was a Chinatown / San Francisco native. He was a gracious and congenial host with a good sense of humor. It was so much better to have a "authentic" guide rather than a canned corporate flavored tour. The food at the end was authentic Chinese and handmade and pretty good, although the history lesson and tour were the highlight of the whole affair.

“Best way to see Chinatown...”
Reviewed July 24, 2014 via mobile

Tour guide was extremely friendly and knowledgeable! She gave wonderful historical information! Great way to see Chinatown. Chinatown can be overwhelming with a glance and this is a great way to see and experience it from a local! Highly recommend it!

“Well worth it...”

We very much enjoyed the China Town Tour with Emily and Wok Wiz. Informative and fun, and a look at the place from someone who has lived and worked here all her life. And the lunch at the end...very good!

“Walking Tour of SF Chinatown”
Reviewed March 18, 2014

Frank Jang was our tour guide and lunch companion as we spent about 3 hours with him walking around Chinatown and eating one of the best Cantonese lunches I've ever had. Frank took us to a tea tasting (where we bought tea to bring home), a fortune cookie factory (you'll never eat a fortune cookie wrapped in cellophane again), and scumptious lunch, and we learned alot about the history of Chinatown. Frank grew up in Chinatown and pointed out a lot of sites and stories that we would have missed if we didn't take this tour.

“It wasn't mindblowing, but it was a good insight to Chinatown”
Reviewed January 31, 2014

Took the tour with my husband and three visiting docs from Germany. Our guide, Gemmy, was a vivacious 60ish woman who was a good source of knowledge about the area. We walked the streets and she pointed out things that a tourist might miss just strolling (like print shops, beauty shops, higher end shops and live chicken shops). We visited a Buddhist temple (really, just a storefront with an alter in the back), a fortune cookie factory (very small - a quick look only) and a a tea shop (where we had a tea service but not a "chinese" service like you would expect). The dim sum lunch that followed was fun but mostly because we enjoyed the company of Gemmy and the docs from Germany. Not the greatest food, and nothing I've not had before, but fun just the same. If you are looking for a half day to kill in SF and want to know a bit about the history of Chinatown, it's not a bad deal.
