Award-winning and plenty of fun, our team of tour leaders are all born in Chinatown, are articulate and receive rave reviews - join us soon! Wok Wiz Tours has been in business for 30 years and was founded by the late chef/author Shirley Fong-Torres who designed her tours to showcase one of the most remarkable neighborhoods in San Francisco: Chinatown. Each year, we bring thousands of guests, of all ages, from near and far, to our vibrant area. Every Wok Wiz tour leader was either born in, or grew up in Chinatown, giving a very local flavor to the tour, and each speaks fluent English as well as Chinese. Wok Wiz Chinatown Tours remains a San Francisco icon. “A true highlight of our trip”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 16, 2013

The Wok Wiz Tour was one of my favourite parts of our trip to San Francisco. Gimmy was our guide, and we were thrilled that our party of three were her only guests that day. The tour felt very personalized, and all three generations of our group found something to enjoy. The dim sum lunch was my favourite - probably the best meal we ate all week. After the tour, we were going on to City Lights bookstore; Gimmy actually volunteered to take us there herself! I would absolutely recommend this wonderful tour to anyone interested in seeing Chinatown in a more personal way.

“Gimmy”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 11, 2013

Gimmy was our tour guide for Chinatown. She was knowledgeable, funny, and well informed. She answered all of our questions and spent more time with us than she probably was supposed to because my group of 3 were the only participants. It was a great way to start our time in San Francisco!

“What a wonderful experience!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 20, 2013

We went on the Wok Wiz tour and had such a wonderful day! Our tour guide was Dorothy and she was very informative and such a nice lady. She remembered everyone's name on the tour and a little something about them to make the tour very personal. Our tour, including lunch, was supposed to take 3 hours but were with Dorothy for 4 hours. I loved how we got to hear the history of the area and she even added some places along the way that were important to her personally. The group size is limited to 16 people....nice size. Dorothy took us around Chinatown and into small shops. We went to a tea tasting...very interesting and enjoyable! The tea was wonderful. After our in-depth tour we were taken to a very nice restaurant and served a dim sum lunch. It was delicious!!! I highly recommend this tour....so much fun!!! I wouldn't have had 1/2 the experience had we tried to tour Chinatown on our own. Take this tour!!

“A great tour with Dorothy”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 3, 2012

We have walked through Chinatown on our own in the past but didn't really know much about its history or day-to-day life currently. It was great to slow down to look and listen and learn more about Chinatown with an experienced local guide. Dorothy, who has received many other great reviews, was all that has been mentioned previously. She was friendly and brimming with interesting information about her childhood in Chinatown, her family, and the community. This tour was a highlight of our recent visit to San Francisco. We will plan to return for other tours from Wok Wiz on future visits.

“Best part of our San Fran trip”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 27, 2012

Our tour guide, Dorothy, was straight out of central casting for our Chinatown tour. She was born in Chinatown 80 years ago, and showed us the building where she was born, had her wedding reception and the Baptist Church where she learned to speak English. This was the level of intimacy on this tour. This wasn't all chopsticks and tea, it was an insider's peek into the amazing culture of the people and the 24 blocks they call home. If you do nothing else in San Francisco, take this tour. It cost us about $50 per person for a four hour tour that included a tea tasting and wonderful dim sum lunch.
