For those few who may not know, this is apparently the crookedest street in the world (that's what the sign said, anyway). My advice is to start at the top (you can get there by the Powell-Hyde cable car if walking too much is a problem) and then walk down, in this way being able to admire the wonderful views of SF plus the beautiful houses and flowers that line the street. When you get to the bottom, turn round and watch the courageous drivers slowly making their way down and get a view of the crooked road from the bottom. I really liked it and, if it IS a tourist trap as people keep saying, then at least it's free which is unlike most tourist traps :-)
