“Great space. Great Collection. Great Exhibitions.”
Reviewed December 27, 2012

The permanent collection is impressive and doesn't require hours and hours. Traveling exhibitions are typically very good.

“A respite South of Market Street”
Reviewed December 21, 2012

The SF MoMA is a must visit if in the area. On a most recent visit we enjoyed a show of Jasper Johns. Yet of equal interest was a photograph exhibition from South Africa. One needs to visit with an open-mind and consider the regional uniqueness of the museum including its design (strong Asian influence) and collection which is on par with museums in larger cities i.e. NYC, LA, Chicago.

For shopping the museum store is a treasure trove of items starting at under $5. One could easily do all their holiday shopping in the expansive store with a great selection of books as well as useful items with a design orientation.

The location is easily accessible just north of Market Street and 3rd in the burgeoning SOMA neighborhood.

“What fun!”
Reviewed December 6, 2012

This museum is fun for all ages. I enjoyed all of the exhibits--the current installation of photography is amazing. The layout of the museum makes it easy to take a break and head to the cafe or find a bench for quiet reflection. Be sure to visit the roof top and gaze out at the city--see if you can find Waldo.

“Free Tuesday! :)”
Reviewed December 5, 2012

The entrance to the museum is free on tuesdays, so it might be a little packed.
They had various exhibitions for every taste and very famous artwork by Andy Warhol, Pablo Picasso, etc. They did not only have paintings, but also great arrangements and compositions, also Damien Hursts ready mades. You were even allowed to take pictures of most of the artwork. I enjoyed my time to the fullest.

“4 stories of art....”
Reviewed November 30, 2012

Moma was free the day we went ... so it was very good value for money! I think it was pretty good... but it wasn't the best museum we saw in our travels by far. The free day meant it was packed and this may have been the reason. There wasn't much chance to interact with any of the pieces on a personal level so it felt like you were on a tour bus some of the time. There were quite a few site-specific room istallations that were just so packed you couldn't really even experience them I wouldn't recommend going on the free entry day... it isn't the way to see art.
