“Get away from the Wharf!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 4, 2012

This place is a gem with good food, and a fun atmosphere. It is a must see in San Fran. Get away from the hub bub of the Fisherman's Wharf area and enjoy a sunny afternoon on their outdoor patio on the water. i had the garlic crab, but I watched the other dishes that went by and you cannot go wrong.

“Incredibly rude bartender”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 26, 2012

We stopped in and asked about the Happy Hour specials they were advertising. The waitress told me she wasn't sure, so we stood at the bar and waited for the bartender. It seemed like the people around the bar were regulars and he didn't want to bother with us tourists. When he finally acknowledged us, we asked about the Happy Hour specials. Without so much as a word, he grabbed the same non-descript Happy Hour menu they had by the door, threw it at us and turned away. I've never felt so unwelcome. Needless to say, we walked right out.

We ended up going to Waterfront Restaurant a little farther down the wharf and were treated so well. Beautiful place with an awesome view and a fantastic Happy Hour from 3pm to 7pm ... we went back every day!

“Might go back for lunch”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 24, 2012

We had a business dinner here. The food looks much more like lunch fare. The shrimp sandwiches were huge and people who ordered those seemed satisfied. The fish tacos didn't have much fish and had too much corn in them. The clam chowder tasted more like gravy for biscuits and gravy. All in all, I might go back for a lunch, but I wouldn't recommend for dinner.

“Great views and Food is Better!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 30, 2012

We saw a review of Pier 23 on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives, and marked it as a "must do" while in town - what a great plan! 6 of us went here for lunch and everyone had a superb meal - and to boot, Flor-i-da was in the house!

My wife had the dungeness crab; i had the mussels/clams - wonderful!! Can't go wrong with either. It simply is a great place to go to at least once while in San Fran....just do it!

“Fun Place: We Will Be Back”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 8, 2012

When my daughter learned we were going S.F. she said we have to try Pier 23. Pier 23 was just on food network on diner dive and drive ins. And that we had to order the house specials Oven Roasted Whole Dungeness Crab and Fish Tacos. Well we didn't do that and we should of because Instead we had the fish and chips and clam chowder, your typical S.F. wharf affair. They were so-so. Sometime you just have to go for it. The Dungeness Crab ($30 -$32 M. P.) looked so good and I love fish taco. Pier 23 looks like shack on the outside and looks like shack on inside. Two large tents cover the back patio and if you lucky you might find seating by the water. This is happy hour place with locals and tourists ratio being 50-50. Looks like they have music every night of the week. Pier 23 is located in a very safe area of the Enbarcadero across the street from Fog City Diner. Fun place.
