De-fleshed animals, fossils, jewelry, plants...quite a strange collection of goods for sale in this trendy spot. The kids store a block away has nice selection of toys.

Thank William M

This place is great if you're into taxidermy. The shop next door is pretty cool too, even has a live fish theatre!! ''Don't judge the fish''

Brilliant shop full of all kinds of oddities and curios. The Unicorn's head near the door is fascinating. As is every other item in here. If you're in The Mission, check this place out.

I'm out of the country for much of the year so when I return home to SF, my husband and I head first to the great restaurants on Valencia Street. I ALWAYS go earlier than the reservation to allow time to visit Paxton's Gate, simply the most interesting and curious shop in the area.
It's part taxidermy (yes, stuffed animals like raccoons, a horse's head that has become a unicorn in its second life, etc.), part natural history collection, part plant shop, part bookstore. If you need glass cougar, wolf or human eyes, this is the place. I've been eyeing the real bat under a cloche for a couple of years now, but it still creeps me out just a little too much. For fossils, sea shells, snakes preserved in jars, etc., this shop is not to be missed!
