The Martin Luther King Memorial in Yerba Buena Gardens is a hidden treasure...it has been being repaired and hopefully will soon be open again. Take the pathway behind the thundering waters and you will find yourself revitalized by the strength of King's vision and the power of his message. All of Yerba Buena Gardens is incredible, an oasis of art, food, views, open space, and so important in the city.

We visited Yerba Buena Gardens during a recent trip to San Francisco and found it to be a decent city park area. Unfortunately the park was being overrun by the SalesForce reps who were having a conference in the city. This certainly detracted from the park making a better impression on us than it probably would have under normal circumstances.

Overall, we thought the park was ok and would make a nice place for those living and working in this area to pay visit in search for some green space, something that is always of value in city centres. We particularly liked the shaking man statue as well as our visit to St. Patrick's Church just across the street. The area was much more spacious and enjoyable than the green space at Union Square.

However, we felt that visitors to San Francisco would probably do better to invest their time going to Golden Gate Park if in search of garden and park areas in San Francisco. On the whole, it has a lot more to offer and is arguably much nicer. At least we much preferred it to Yerba Guena Garden area.

Not only is this the nicest, cleanest park in the city but it's right near most of the culturalcenters in the city. Great place for a picnic, coffee, brunch, or just plain laying out in the oOctober sun. Well worth a visit.
