Owner description: A group of renovated factory buildings filled with shops, restaurants and galleries.

Ghirardelli square is in a nice area of san Francisco but doesn't have a lot to offer but restaurants and the factory store. there is no actual factory working there or any history left besides the old brick building. at the factory store you can get the same chocolates you can get at any grocery store, and not even cheaper so there is not really any reason to buy here. they have a chocolate festival every year around august which is fun. the waterfront and the beach is great! the only beach in san Francisco that really has send and water access. parking is a problem so I advise parking few block back around fort mason and walk for 5 minutes.

Every trip I take to San Francisco, one of the first stops is Ghirardelli Square to enjoy some coffee and dessert and stock up on chocolates.
The selection is always great.
The view from outside the square looking towards the Bay never ceases to amaze me. On a clear day you can see across the bay and marvel at the scenery. Perfect photo opt

Having visited the square as a child, 50+ years ago, there wasn't much there but a big brick building. Today, the sweet shops, restaurants, and other gift shops, make this a great spot for eats and a view of Alcatraz. Certainly worth a stroll through it even if you don't buy or eat.

Hot fudge sundaes are great most everywhere, but here they seem just a tad bit better. Nice little shopping area with boutique shops throughout the interesting old factory's complex.

This was my first time in SF, I knew right away that I wanted to go to Ghirardelli square and try their ice cream! My bf isn't a big ghirardelli fan but he loved their ice cream! I would deff. check this place out if you get the chance while you're in SF.
