Owner description: Stretching 4,200 feet and towering as high as a 65-story building, this well-known bridge is the gateway to San Francisco.

I guess it's a place you need to see if you are in San Francisco. It took abut an hour to walk all the way across and back. It's fun to imagine how hard it would be to paint the bridge. Just be sure that y don't bring any water bottles, coffee cups. There are no trash barrels and you will be carrying the whole time.

This one of the main attraction and should be on your list of things to see. Free to walk or ride a bike across. Just be aware of wind.Wind blows very hard and is cold in 65 degree temp.

Most famous landmark of San Fran and is a definite place to visit! Ride bikes across to bridge or stay and just take pictures.

Be sure you dress warmly and be prepared for the wind. It is about 1.7 miles each way but it is so exhilarating to walk across this iconic bridge. I do this at least once each time I'm in San Francisco.

Two of us walked from the north side and back across this iconic landmark. The views were stunning, including the infamous Alcatraz, beautiful sailboats in the bay, and the San Francisco skyline. Pedestrians and bikers share one walkway, which was treacherous the day we visited due to the large number of visitors and most of us stopping to take pictures. The outdoor exhibit at the south end plaza was informative and engaging. There is a small scale model of the bridge that allows two people to pull on pulleys on each end to simulate the tension required to hold up the bridge. The history and the engineering of the bridge are explained on large panels that line the circular area.
