Owner description: Designed to look like a Roman ruin, this golden building is certainly a beauty to behold.

It was a big surprise to me to stumble on this place by mistake. I was trying to go to Golden Gate park and was here instead. The place is amazing!

Built in 1915 and rebuilt in 1965, the Palace is a short walk from Fort Point and Fort Mason. This structure’s pergola and rotunda are both magnificent when viewed across the lagoon from benches on a walking path. Many colorful seabirds and shorebirds flock to this lagoon so watch where you sit. Ample parking is found on Palace Drive, and a bit farther away on Yacht Road and Mason Street. Walking the grounds, with its structures and statuary recalling ancient ruins, is like stepping back into another era and another civilization. The detailed ornamentation on the entablature, friezes, and colonnades is captivating. The many full-length statues near the pergola are particularly worthwhile. The Palace is a delightful setting to bring friends and family for photos. I liked everything I saw here. Bring a camera; you’ll be glad you did!

Beautiful architecture, surrounded by a tranquil water and some very beautiful houses. Just stop off for an hour and have some lunch on the grass.

The Fine Arts is one of those hidden gems that residents forget, and tourists often look over. However the architecture and setting make it one of my favorite places in san francisco, wonderful for a picnic or to bring a visitor or friend to
