Owner description: Designed to look like a Roman ruin, this golden building is certainly a beauty to behold.

nice place to take photos... very pretty and esp if u go near sunset when the sun shines onto the structure...

didn't go inside because by the time we went they were closing, but still worth a walk around the place

I was here as part of a photography tour and spent about 45 minutes photographing this beautiful place....and wishing I had twice as long to photograph and enjoy this lovely venue. It is beautiful, peaceful and a definite "must see" if you are in the SF area. Be sure to bring your camera even if only your iphone.

This is probably the most beautiful place I have ever been to. The palace is amazing and the grounds around it are immense.

Just a beautiful place to sit on a bench or wander around with a camera. I thoroughly enjoyed walking around, especially how quiet it was in the midst of the city.

This may be a reproduction building but its charm is all original! The setting is superb with the wildlife pond and ocean. We watched turtles sunbathing and gulls bathing - they seemed to appreciate the beauty of the place too. Under the arches we saw a wedding photographer at work. The light and setting were just perfect to reflect the grandeur and joy of the occasion while up above a heron sat watching from high on the walls. The homes around the pond are pretty as a picture and from here you can walk beside the water all the way to Fishermans Wharf and see some good views of Alcatraz - if it emerges from the mist for long enough.
