“Worth Taking a Quick Look”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 5, 2013

The Civic Center has City Hall, where you will see people getting ready for weddings. Also, there is an interesting Asian Museum. Take a short trip to this area on your way to other parts of town.

“No Wonder It's a National Historic Landmark!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 6, 2013

The Center and its large plaza is a short walk uphill through UN Plaza from the BART Civic Center station. Two of their prominent features are the world-class Asian Art Museum and the sprawling City Hall; both are magnificent. Other sites worth seeing on the plaza are the Public Library and the Opera House. No wonder the entire area is a national historic landmark! A historic streetcar line and several Muni buses pass through and near the Center and its plaza. During my midday visits, buses disgorged load after load of camera-carrying tourists near the Pioneer Monument. Several other photogenic outdoor sculptures are in the area just above the UN Plaza pedestrian mall. While gawking and talking, remain aware of your gear — distracted tourists make great marks and you’re just a short walk from the city’s teeming skid row. Despite that reality, I loved the area’s architectural diversity and the sense of vast civic energy at work.

“Very Much Worth Visiting”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 11, 2013

Wild...this building is bigger than the Capitol dome. Free one hour tours occur on M-f at 10, 12 & 2. This is a must see. When we were here there were so many people getting married. Walk up the stairs in the inside. Amazing view of the dome from inside. Can buy food outside at all the food trucks.

Spectacular building! Big dome like Capitol building! I saw couples wedding ceremony there. You can find useful free maps and city magazines in the lobby!
