For a major city, San Francisco should boast more than the tourist trap called Union Square. It was shockingly small when visited in person, with a reasonable sized garden in the center, expensive stores around the square and a lot of crowds from nearly hotels. If you have been to Yonge and Dundas square in Toronto, you have already seen Union Square. Dont expect too much and you shall not be disappointed. The Westfield Mall is a short walk away, but please do not expect to be blown away with that institution too. San Francisco just does not have the space to build expansive awe inspiring malls, or perhaps we have gotten too used to large ones and dont really care for their smaller cousins.
