The Ferry Building is one long expanse of interesting venues. Whether you just want to sample a cup of coffee at the Blue Bottle Coffee shop, or buy a San Francisco souvenir from the many places along the way, you are bound to enjoy the many sights of this busy place. We enjoyed watching the activity in this building and the area in general along the Embarcadero. This is a place where one can get the sense of a busy city on the famous San Francisco Bay. If you are visiting, make sure you enjoy this area.

We took the streetcar to the Ferry Building, and spent the morning taking in the aromas, flavors, and sights of the Ferry Building and its multitude and variety of offerings. With each step we took we were greeted with new and exciting flavors and experiences. From gourmet olive oils, to seafood and local meats, to incredible beers and wines, and local folksy culinary craft items, the Ferry Building was a treat for the senses.

Come hungry, take the streetcar, and prepare your mind and palate for a once in a lifetime experience.

We went to the Ferry Building twice. The first time was better because of the farmers' market that they have on Saturdays. Inside and out you can find interesting things: olive oils, chocolates, produce, etc. It is really a neat place, but beware of the prices. I think pretty much everything is overpriced here. The second time we were looking to have lunch, but the prices drove us away. It's a great experience, and I did buy a few things (Argentine empanadas inside and some olive oil and chocolate at the farmers' market). It's worth your time just to browse the unique products.

Great place to shop for gifts for foodies. There are vendors selling artisan cheeses, breads, olive oils, soap.... you name it it's there.
