We loved the food at the ferry building market; the taste and the variety. The setting is also beautiful. It is my wife's favorite place in San Francisco.

I think Ferry Building Marketplace might be a bit boring normally, but on market days like Saturdays, there are a lot of fresh fruits and vegies and food trucks available. Be prepared to fight the crowds- it's full of tourists and locals alike on Saturdays!

Of the food trucks I like Roli Roti the most, although I had my eyes on the ramen too. Definitely worth a visit.

I love that the ferry building has been so beautifully renovated and is such a wonderful place to showcase the kinds of quality products that are unique to this area. It's a great place for local artisans to sell their goods and provide fantastic meals. For visitors, I definitely recommend checking out the market, trying different foods and wines, and enjoying the views of the bay. For locals, I also recommend checking this place out every once in a while., although it's way too expensive to shop here on a regular basis. It's more of a place to treat yourself to some fancy goods and remind yourself that California is a great agricultural state. For everyday shopping, check out the neighborhood farmer's markets. Often you'll find the same fresh veg/fruit vendors with the same or similar goods for way less money and without the hassle of going downtown.

The building itself is a magnificent piece of architecture, especially when you consider it has survived major earthquakes! Sitting dockside with a warm drink you can admire the external structure and the activities on the bay, along with a view of the Oakland bridge.

Inside are numerous small stores and cafes, most of which are smaller independant retailers selling wares you won't find in the Malls of Union Square. However look up and you will see the fantastic structure of steel and concrete that holds the building together. For me that was the highlight.

It's only a short walk from the Financial District and the streetcar F Line runs right outside.
