In reading the other reviews, I must have hit this place on a bad day. It's OK to walk by on the way to something else, but no way is this worth a special trip on its own. Tables were few, variety minimal.

Check out the farmers market with awesome products (and awesomer samples) as well as some delicious meals from the many food stands. This was a great stop for me. Rented a bike and had an awesome ride there, walked among the stands, had my fill of great products (wish I could have bought something to take home), great view with ocean breeze, got some lunch for later (I can't remember the stall's name, but look for the pulled pork stand), then had an easy ride to the close-by Marina and Crissy Field.

The farmers' market sets up in a vast number of stalls around the Ferry Building. The colours and smells of the vegetables, fruits cheeses and numerous other products mingle to produce an almost sensory overload. In amongst the producers are a number of fantastic hot food options which makes a visit to the market even better. But be aware the market is VERY popoular and can be extremely crowded. I waited in line for over 30 min for a roast porchetta sandwich although I must admit the wait was worth it for the sandwich which was fantastic - possibly the best pork snadwich I have ever tasted.
So if you are in San Francisco make a bee line to the Farmers' Market you will not be disappointed.

So many delicious things, so many delicious smells. Very busy, very crowded. Definetely one of the places you simply can't miss in San Francisco. Even if you're no shopping for food do yourself a favour and visit it. Also plenty of little shops inside the Ferry Building and adding to all that plenty of food vans outside.
