“Lots to see and eat!”
Reviewed June 21, 2013

Parking is expensive, but once you resign yourself to paying it, there is a lot to see here. You can shop, eat anything imaginable (we walked down a little way and got some chowder in a bread bowl), see sea lions, alcatraz, and watch street performers. There are other piers and things to see nearby. The kids really liked it. Bring a jacket if you're going to walk around a lot.

“Worth a visit”
Reviewed June 19, 2013

There is so much to do around this very touristy area of one of the world's great cities. Shops, and events and some of the best restaurants, too, with great clam chowder to be had (not necessarily from the first restaurant that comes to mind). When I want to replenish my Dave's Insanity stock, I visit Pier 39. It is also the launch area of the various ferries for trips around the bay. Here, too, I purchase my "Made in China" goods with American badges...sigh... Bear in mind, though, that San Francisco is replete with great attractions and in summer the open air concerts are simply top notch!
