Owner description: Experience the Exploratorium, a hands-on museum of science, art, and human perception that's dedicated to the excitement of experimentation, the pleasure of discovery, and the power of play. Indulge your curiosity in over 650 exhibits-indoors and out-and explore eye-opening ways to understand the world around you. Don't miss the iconic Tactile Dome, where you can take an interactive excursion in total darkness using your sense of touch as your only guide (be sure to make a reservation in advance). There's also a unique museum store plus two delicious places to eat: the SeaGlass restaurant, which has a stunning Bay view, and the Seismic Joint Cafe. Located at Pier 15 along San Francisco's Embarcadero between Pier 39 and the Ferry Building, the Exploratorium is easy to get to by public transportation (BART or MUNI) plus there's parking nearby. Tickets are available online (recommended) or at the door.

It is a giant warehouse on Pier 15 that is newly moved into the facility and apparently greatly expanded. Wide range of scientific principles in easily demonstrated, hands-on format. Kids were loving it. Multiple live demos going on, at least on Saturday. Favorite quirky thing for me was the toothpick creation that was HUGE and represented all of San Francisco, taking 37 years to complete -- amazing. Oddest thing was a wooden structure in the behavioral science area that displayed the meager belongings and a biography of residents of a psychiatric hospital 50 to 100 years ago, comparing treatment then to now. I got the point, but it was still creepy. I did not eat there, but the cafeteria looked fabulous. Great view of the Bay. Worth the $25.

My husband and I decided to take the kids (2,3). Both kids are free for 3 and under. Adults are $25 a piece, but got a student discount. The kids were a bit young for all the exhibits, but they still had a blast. My husband who loves science was in heaven. I had to literally drag them out. It is science the kids can touch and see in action. Parking across the street is $5 an hour, but heard if you park in Lewis Plaza? you can get in validated. Lots of kids running around and seem to be a favorite school field trip.

Spend hours learning with your kids. Great hands on exhibits and learning through fun and games. Adults will be fascinated also. Walking distance to Fishermans Wharf and Alcatraz Landing. One of best science museums we have ever visited. Crowded at times. Food is also good but a little pricy. Wonderful outdoor areas also

Visited for the AAJ Convention opening night party! A fabulous venue for a LARGE convention party. Food & Drink stations were fun and loved the performers that walked around entertaining guests. Refreshing to have an interactive setting.

Engaging is the one word summation of the experience you will have here. This is a hands on learning extravaganza. For adults, go on Thursday evenings with the age restriction as well as beer and wine for sale. Physics, Biology, the Universe, it is all on hand at the Exploratiorium.
