Owner description: Experience the Exploratorium, a hands-on museum of science, art, and human perception that's dedicated to the excitement of experimentation, the pleasure of discovery, and the power of play. Indulge your curiosity in over 650 exhibits-indoors and out-and explore eye-opening ways to understand the world around you. Don't miss the iconic Tactile Dome, where you can take an interactive excursion in total darkness using your sense of touch as your only guide (be sure to make a reservation in advance). There's also a unique museum store plus two delicious places to eat: the SeaGlass restaurant, which has a stunning Bay view, and the Seismic Joint Cafe. Located at Pier 15 along San Francisco's Embarcadero between Pier 39 and the Ferry Building, the Exploratorium is easy to get to by public transportation (BART or MUNI) plus there's parking nearby. Tickets are available online (recommended) or at the door.

A family friend recommended to visit Exploratorium, especially with the kids. And we did, with our children. I was expecting a usual science and technology museum or exhibition kind of experience. But I was totally wrong. This place is amazing and unique. It is a "do it yourself, try it yourself" kind of place, with hundreds of hands on experiments. From pendulum, to electric engines, animation techiniques, and many many more to list here.
Children and adults can spend a full day, and may need more time.

The new Exploratorium is wonderful beyond belief. The exhibits are fun and informative for all ages. Many subjects and mind boggling. Even thought it was quite crowded, one never felt too crowded. Everyone was very thoughtful of everyone else and we all got to see as much as we could in the amount of time we were there before it closed. You really could spend the whole day there. Only wish we would have gone earlier because we did run out of time.
We had lunch and it was delicious. A good variety of food. Roasted half chickens were so moist. The sushi was so fresh.

This was so much fun to go through... But be sure to plan to spend most of the day there because it was so big. We had read a review saying it takes an hour or two to go through but we were there for five hours and rushed through parts of it. Great place for children and adults!

The newly renovated Exploratorium is awe-inspiring. The exhibits make learning fun and exciting.
My husbnd and I attended the "First Thursday" adult evening and had a wonderful time wandering thru this open, light infused venue, Freestyle was the theme that evening and we enjoyed a customized drink from the bar...one spirit and two additional ingredients and the mixologist created an aromatic elixir just for me. Science is used in many different ways ... even for a new drink.
