The lines to get on the boat look to be long, but the staff does a great job getting us boarded. Not sure why I'm seeing prices above $100, when the Park Service doesn't charge anywhere near that. The boat ride itself was worth the price of admission. Look back at the city and see the road with Harry Callahan's car-chase scene, well you can imagine anyway. SF is very beautiful from the water. Alcatraz itself was good exercise (up hill walk to get to cell block) and very interesting. The staff hands out audio sets with tour in many languages - the route is a bit confusing and you need to move along - my pause button didn't work well. We didn't have time to tour the whole island, but I'd go again just to walk around. Not sure that very young kids (like less than 8 yo) would like this. There's a tram for people that can't walk well.
