I know it's down to personal taste but I don't understand anyone who thinks this is just average. Its a great trip, the guides are knowledgeable and it's well worth following one of their walks. Simply brilliant audio tour and I'd really recommend pausing it to walk out in the exercise yard, the aaudio tour doesn't make it that obvious you can do so. I walked right over to the other side and it evoked eiry (??) feelings. It's only a 20 min ferry trip and you'll need to book in advance.
I would have liked to do an evening trip, but didn't know it was an option. We booked with Viator and was told to arrive for 09:30 for a 10:00 ferry, but when issued tickets our ferry was for 14:40 which was a bummer. We had a combined hop on bus so did a loop of the city but it still left us with hour to kill and we weren't impressed with the sea lionless pier 39. However, the tour comany said that if we hadn't collected our tickets by 10:30 they would have been resold despite the fact they were prepaid. So watch out for this.
