“Amazing Rooms, Lousy Food Service”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 30, 2012

We were there for a wedding and booked a night. The room was amazing with an incredible bathtub that actually covers your whole body and a shower with an invigorating spray. The beds were so comfortable it was easy to fall asleep.

However, we had breakfast before we left and the service was terrible. It took a long time to get a waiter, then one of us ordered the buffet, the other off the menu. The waiter took the order from memory and we never saw him again. Half way through my buffet meal I had to get the hostess to make our waiter stop by with coffee and juice, even though he walked by several times. 15 minutes later and another complaint and our order of scrambled eggs, bacon and wheat toast came as eggs over easy, sausages and no toast on a blazing hot plate, which clearly indicates it was left under a heat lamp for a really long time.

When he brought it, I refused it and said we'll do buffet for the other meal as well. I think he read that I am the kind of person who goes to Managers, so he took the whole meal off the tab, losing $18 for the hotel, rather than have them find out he should be fired.

Good food, bad service.

Room Tip: There is a view of Boston. Ask for it.

The Marriott Quincy is a good hotel for a business traveller. Rooms are clean and well organized. Dining room has good food. My only complaint with the hotel is that it lacks a personality. Everything is basically the same as any other Marriott catering to a business traveller. That's a pro and a con rolled into one.

Spent two nights with advance reservations. At check-in everything was confirmed according to reservation; however, upon entering room saw that there was refrigerator. Front desk said will take care of it - well that never happened but it was not a deal breaker for us. Room was well appointed and bed and pillows were extremely comfortable. All staff were courteous. Breakfast buffet on Sunday morning was excellent - presentation was clean and appealing. Downside - hotel charges to park. Crazy since there is nothing on the hill except the hotel so why charge paying guests another fee when there is no where else to park vehicles. Parking Rate jumped to $12 after reservation was confirmed but front desk made an adjustment to the confirmed rate of $9 per night.

It was one of my best stay in my own city as i had forgotten my keys at my family back in washington dc and y brother was due to come the next day. The rooms were clean with the atmosphere around the hotel pleasant and the cleanliness was excellent.

I was in town for business and found my stay here quite comfortable. Amenities were great, and room was sizeable. Front desk staff were very polite and informative. I would definitely come back here next time I'm in Boston for business.

2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 11, 2012

We stayed for several days in August in a room on the 8th floor ,their executive floor with access to the executive lounge. There were many problems during our stay.
1.Throughout our stay, there was no internet in the executive lounge, whose staff were well aware of it. We immediately brought this to the attention of Reception staff as we needed access during our stay. The reaction was surprising to say the least. Staff member K(female), first reaction was to tell us that no one else had mentioned this. Now, I am not sure what exactly this is supposed to mean. Is she implying that we made this up?That we were lying?(if so to what ends?)Perhaps that by being the first to mention we were going to win a prize?Especially since the lounge staff all said it had been that way for days. Does it make our report less valid even if no one had ever mentioned it before?Does the Lounge staff not talk to the front office? This reaction is frankly ridiculous on so many fronts. Anyway, no effort was made to give us free access to their other internet facility which seemed to be working just fine, but you had to pay for it. K also seemed to constantly laugh throughout our exchanges, maybe this was just a nervous reaction, but it comes across as insulting to the client.Throughout our stay, she kept saying staff was on its way;someone was going to look at it;someone had just gone upstairs etc etc etc.It was never fixed.
2.We had a flood of water into the Lounge from the ceiling one day- staff placed buckets to catch the stream of water coming from multiple sources. It was clear the Lounge was a problem. And given the rooms with access to the Lounge are more expensive, it is not acceptable.
3.Our room-we discovered on the first morning that the tiling below the showerhead was dirty. Black sludge between the tiles indicated a lack of basic cleaning effort.Tried to point this out to the pleasant, but English language impaired all-Chinese cleaning staff to no avail. Did not want to deal with the laughing hyena in reception on yet another topic, so left it. But made sure we did not eat in the hotel.
4.Our room had an insect infestation. Small "flies" would appear each day. We squished at least 15 per day, and they kept coming. From where was not clear, as there was no food in the room. Probably from the ventilation system-hence there must be nests or refuse close to the ducts' entrance or exit on the roof or wherever. Perhaps it was just the poor cleaning of that room, or???who knows? We just kept killing them as they seemed very attracted to the mirrors. So we checked these regularly, and found new insects each time. While you may expect this in a tropical/3rd world location, you dont expect it in a Marriott property in the US.
On this too, we did not bring this up to the front desk hyena who undoubtedly would have responded with the fact that no one had brought this up before, and see above for the rest.
Given their inability to get the internet connection established in the executive lounge, it also seemed unlikely they would get this fixed. We were very careful to shake out all our clothes before packing, and put everything in the wash as soon as we got home as we did not want to bring back anything with us.
So, all in all, a very poor experience.Guess whether we will be staying here again..

Room Tip: Beware insects, and check the shower tiles before you settle in.

The hotel is easy to get to and the beds are very, very comfy. After a day of rowing in Boston, it was a blessing to have a soft and fluffy bed to relieve the body of aches and pains. It was a very relaxing place to stay.

Room Tip: Higher floors have great views.
