“Great introduction to outdoor climbing”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 30, 2013

I've been climbing indoors for a few months now, but haven't made it outdoors yet. While on a trip to Acadia National Park in Maine, I decided to hire a guide for a half day to get some outdoor experience. My guide, Alex, was great and taught me a great deal about climbing outdoors. I had a blast doing it too. We climbed Otter Cliffs, which offered a fantastic view of the ocean and an unforgettable time. Great experience if you're feeling adventurous or are a climber and need a belayer for the day.

Professional & Safe. The instructors took their time to ensure each student understood the task at hand and how to safely reach their goal.

“For a winter climb of Katahdin, this is the place!”

Dick Chassé was a fantastic guide for two older guys. Great cook, too. If you want a tough, but safe climb up Katahdin, you can't do better than hiring Dick.

“safety on the rocks”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 29, 2013

I just finished a week with Acadia Mountain Guides chief, Jon Tierney. We went to Joshua Tree in CA and Red Rocks in NV. His knowledge of the areas is amazing, and he tailored climbs for a friend and me - so we had challenge but were not overpowered. Cracks galore, slabs, and faces with cracks. Weather great. I like the fact he teaches you how it should be done safely and efficiently while you are having a ball doing the climb.

“Great mountain, great guide”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 20, 2013

A friend and I just spent a couple days on a wonderful winter climb of Katahdin in Baxter State Park, Maine. Dick Chasse, our guide, did a fine job of leading two fit (but still - late 50s!) guys up snowy & icy Katahdin's 5268 feet. Dick is not only a fine guide and good companion, but full of information on the park's flora, fauna and history. While we had expected the usual backwoods freeze-dried dining, DIck is a fine cook, and prepared great meals with fresh ingredients. I strongly recommend Acadia Mountain Guides for both overall quality and value.
