“Wonderful Hotel”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 14, 2013

The room was clean with a great view of the ocean. It is worth upgrading in order to avoid a view of the parking lot. Try to get an upper floor since the restaurant can block the view.
The food was very good and priced reasonably for a hotel.
The hotel is 1 1/2 miles from town which is either good or inconvenient depending on your needs.

Bar Harbor is a great vacation destination.
This hotel is on the waterfront and pleasant enough although not very much landscaping for such a lush location.
The rooms are clean and well maintained.
Staff is average, no complaints.
Restaurants are over-priced and not very distinguished - you will get better meals in town.
As a business traveler with a charge card on file, I was perplexed to get a very non-descriptive final receipt. I was one page without charges or credits. The desk clerk insisted that was the only receipt since the bill was already paid.
It took a call to the main company to get a receipt reflective of the charges to turn in for reimbursement? Not a big deal but really?
I'd stay again but as they say 'nothing to write home about'

Room Tip: There is not much traffic on the road after dark, so being on the water or road side doesn't mak...

We took a vacation to Maine and did not know what day we were going to get to Bar Harbor. We were lucky as this hotel had an opening on the days we were staying in Bar Harbor. The view from this hotel is spectacular and the pool and hot tub are wonderful. I accidentally left a necklace in my room upon my departure that had a lot of sentimental value so I called to hotel to see if they could find it and they DID. First time I have ever gotten anything back that I left in a hotel room. Kudos to the staff for helping me out. I highly recommend staying at this hotel and if I ever return to Bar Harbor I will definitely stay there again!

Room Tip: Ask for ocean view you will not be dissappointed

This hotel has a beautiful setting! We wanted a hotel with a nice pool and close to Acadia National Park. We were pleased with the location and the pool was exquisite! The hotel was clean and our room was recently renovated and very pretty. When we arrived our room was on the third floor with no elevator. This was a problem for us, so they moved us to the first floor on the second day of our stay. Then, when we received our bill one night was billed $52. More that the other nights. We had to talk with the front desk and finally it was corrected. I would stay here again. I would just want to be aware to check the bill carefully and the hotel is not completely handicapped accessible.

Inital experience was interesting...as we checked in the couple next to us were being moved to a sister property. The Manager told them they always overbook to help fill up their other hotels. We were told that they had "upgraded" our partial ocaen view to full -(even though I booked a fill ocen view room) The upgrade actually put us over the restaurant with a deck that the chairs had to be positioned sideways because the deck was too small to face the ocean. Went down and requested that we be moved. Since the hotel was full, they moved us the next day. The good thing is all we had to do was pack up our stuff and they moved our luggage to the new rooms. The room they moved us to was beautiful and had a perfect view and a deck that we sat on every afternoon. The restaurant was good, food was excellent and the service was great. I would recommend the hotel, but make sure you get there early so you dont wind up over the restaurant. The hotel is about a mile from downtown, so it is convenient, but not in the middle of the the chaos of down town.

Room Tip: Make sure you tell them you dont want room 432 or 438. They are over the restuarant and have no usab...

We booked a no cancellation room at the lowest rate possible during the height of the tourism season. We knew we weren't going to be in the hotel for anything but sleep so it didn't matter to us that we had a room facing the tennis court. There was still a cute little balcony to go out on had we the time! The grounds were lovely but we only saw them on our last night there as we were so busy doing as much sight-seeing as possible. Also on our last night we had our friends join us to play cards at one of the tables in the Bistro. We were asked if we wanted to order anything but on declining we were very graciously advised we could enjoy the table as long as we liked and not order anything at all, "not a problem." Drinks started at $10.00 and we had done that enough in town! The room was large, lots of plug ins and although the WIFI was slow, we also had that on our phones... I'm pretty certain it had to do with the geographical location and not the hotel. Our friends paid $400.00 more for their Hotel (3 nights) and felt we had a much better place. All the staff was friendly and helpful and our room was tidied up every day while we were gone. The negatives were doors shutting loudly in the hall, no continental breakfast included and the bed wasn't the best we've slept on for the rate we paid but still, fell asleep without a problem and went to area restaurants for amazing blueberry pancakes! We would book this place again!

This is a great location to explore Acadia National Park. We had a room that overlooked the parking lot that was HUGE. It was very spacious and clean. Our friends stayed in an ocean view room which was a bit smaller. There are some nice views from the pier. We were there on a very rainy weekend early in the season so some of the outdoor areas were not open.
