“Great place to stay in the off season..or any season”

I use to live in Bar Harbor, now I only get to return for work or to visit family. This work trip was in the off season and I was put up at the Bar Harbor Inn. This is one of the most beautiful places on the island and I never even saw it from the inside until now. The rooms were very comfortable and the view was beautiful. Staff was very friendly and professional at all times. The continental breakfast spread was by far the best I have ever seen. The lounge and restaurant was open the first few nights I was there and the food was amazing. I would return again and again.

We stayed here in late October, so the rates were more to our liking! Check-in was smooth. To save money, our friends chose a first floor 2 Q room #612 in the Newport building. It costs more if you want the 2nd floor. Their room was very basic and tired-looking. Guess they haven’t renovated there yet. We decided to upgrade to a first floor room #325, which overlooks Bar Harbor for an additional $25/night, so it about $130/night (off-season.) We loved our room, very nicely appointed, very comfortable, very clean, comfortable beds, nice little balcony with beautiful view, TV, frig, but no microwave.

The first morning, we decided to use the coupon ($11 off per meal) we received upon check-in for their sit-down breakfast. I had French toast (perfect) and juice and my husband had delicious Eggs Benedict and coffee. Total bill still came to about $31.

Second morning we decided to go for the free breakfast. What a spread! Fresh melon, pineapple, bananas, strawberries, grapes, bagels, cream cheese, cinnamon Streusel cake, variety of muffins, English muffins, cinnamon raisin bread, regular bread, dry cereal & oatmeal, hard boiled eggs, juice, milk, tea, hot chocolate, and alas, weak coffee. That’s ok- you can walk into town (takes you 5 minutes) for some excellent coffee. So if you're watching your spending, the free breakfast is well worth it!

The Inn was outstanding for an off season rate and accommodation. The rooms are outstanding for amenities and decor. Very clean and well supplied. Fantastic views and and convenience to the town's main street. Excellent breakfast bar and helpful staff. We want to go again for sure.

Room Tip: Additional cost is worth it for the bay view.

Bar Harbor Inn is our destination of choice. We have been coming here for several years. The staff are warm, friendly, helpful and efficient. The rooms are spotless, the food - exceptional. The weather adds some excitement and Acadia is a treasure. Memories and friends are made here. Thank you Kathy, Tyler, Doug, and all staff. RAL

For our review we had a room with a water view. The room was quaint. Lovely view. Deck to sit out on. The grounds were well groomed. Breakfast was included and was very nice. Staff was friendly and helpful. Walking distance to restaurants and shopping. Would definitely stay there again if we ever make the trip again

Room Tip: Ask for water view

We stayed here back in April as they were starting up for the season and loved it (shame so much of the town was still closed and the sequestration was affecting the park) but in relation to the hotel it was fabulous. I think we benefited by not being there in peak season and I would encourage anyone with the same opportunity to visit in the quieter period. The location and the view from our room were just magic. We had a small hiccup with the heating and they had it fixed by the time we were back from dinner. (I suspect it was more us then the equipment!) The breakfast buffet was very good and kept well stocked and took advantage of the view. We were most impressed with the restaurant for dinner. We did try another while in town just across the road but the view was not as good, nor the service, but ultimately the food was just so much better at the hotel's restaurant. It is a must to eat here whether or not you stay at the property (although I hope you do). Writing this now after all this time and wishing I was back there. One of the unexpected highlights to a holiday we put together on the run.

Room Tip: Book one with a view.

Since this was our first trip to Bar Harbor, we wanted a room with a great view of the ocean and a balcony. The Bar Harbor Inn was the perfect choice! We stayed in the Oceanfront Lodge on the second floor and had an outstanding view all throughout the day--from the beautiful sunrises to relaxing with some beverages at the end of an active day in Acadia. The hotel and the grounds are absolutely beautiful and so convenient to restaurants and the downtown area. Service was great--we did have a small problem with the heating system on our first night which they handled to our satisfaction. Our room was a nice size and extremely clean and well maintained. Very comfortable bed. We will definitely be back!
