“A little pocket of heaven with an amazing view of the harbor!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 29, 2012

My husband and I stayed at the Ullikana for 5 nights, we were only supposed to stay 3, but we loved Bar Harbor and the Ullikana so much, that we cancelled 2 nights in a different town and stayed put! The breakfasts are amazing! Helene is a wondeful cook! And Roy was so helpful with showing us maps of the area, and giving us tips and advice about the area and Acadia National Park. They were amazing hosts! The view from the back and the terrace is amazing, you look straight out over the Harbor. In the afternoons, they serve wine and cheese and it provides a beautiful and relaxing feeling before you make your way back out for the evening. The Ullikana is within walking distance to everything in Bar Harbor but provides a quiet relaxing atmosphere!

We originally stayed in the Yellow House (just across the driveway from the main part of the Inn where breakfast is served) in Belmont Room. The room is cozy and quaint and makes you feel more like you're a guest in someone's well-appointed home than in an Inn. The Yellow House has the feel of a Maine Beach House with wide-planked painted floors, just perfect!!

After the 3rd night, we moved across the driveway to the main building of the Ullikana (our room was already booked when we decided spur of the moment to add on the 2 extra nights). We moved to the Library Room. It was small, but beautiful! Small rooms don't bother me because really, how much time do you spend in them? I only mention it because I know some people enjoy a spacious room. It is on the first floor at the front of the building, but still managed to be quiet, probably because most people spend the time at the back of the house for the amazing water view!!

We were diappointed when it was to go home and we will definitely stay there again when we return to Bar Harbor. I would highly recommend the Ullikana!

The B&B was very clean, and had a victorian charm that made the stay very relaxing. We stayed in Audry's room, a large room on the 3rd floor, which was very comfortable for myself, wife and daughter. The Inn keeper (Roy) was also very helpful with advising us of Acadia National Park, and of local resturants and places of interest. Breakfast was very good, and the afternoon refreshment were also appreciated. Location could not be better, walking distance to everything in town

Perfect location to the water and all the restaurants and shops. Very friendly staff and tasty breakfast in the morning. We stayed in the Henry room, which was small, but worked well for our needs. The room and bathroom were clean as well. Only comment was the mattress felt a tad worn and we didn't sleep that great, but the pillows were nice and soft! Overall was a great experience and would recommend to others.

On our week long jaunt to Maine to escape the Houston heat, the Ullikana was clearly our favorite stop. We stayed in the Yellow House, their second property across the way, and our room was beautifully appointed, with a separate shower in a small private suite of sorts, called the Bellmont Room. The huge porch overlooking a sculpture garden became one of our most relaxing posts to drink coffee we prepared for ourselves early in the morning with a Keurig in a small kitchen downstairs. The breakfasts were delightfully prepared adn presented on their patio overlooking the water. Each morning the owner would come and visit and answer any questions about Acadia National Park, restaurants, nearby road exursions. Couldn't have been a better stay and we can't wait to go back!

I stayed for a week in early July. I had heard about the Ullikana from a friend who is quite particular. I was not disappointed.
Some of the rooms are small, while others are large. I stayed in 4, with a private detached bath. I did not find myself inconvenienced by the detached bath. The room was a bit warm, no AC, but the fan helped.
The staff is amazing. They were charming and ensured that the Ullikana was impeccably clean.
It is obvious that Roy and Helen love Bar Harbor and their Inn. Both were attentive and Roy was fantastic at helping plan hikes in Acadia.
Nothing beats breakfast with a view of the water and the perfect location on the edge of town. My only suggestion is to ask for directions, it is difficult to find initially. I can't wait to return!

This was our second year staying at the Ullikana and it was as amazing as the first. Roy and Helene are wonderful hosts. They go the extra mile to make you feel comfortable and at home. They have a ton fo knowledge from restaurants to Acadia National Park. The Ullikana has a picturesque view of the water where you eat breakfast every morning and enjoy a glass of wine in the evening. The location is really second to none. My wife, daughter and I wouldn't think of staying anywhere else. We will be back.

It's definitely on the more expensive end, but Roy and Helene are wonderful hosts, full of knowledge and suggestions about what to do in the park. Lovely and friendly. And the food is great, the beds comfortable. Highly recommend it. Only minus is the price!
