You could be in a hotel except you have the warmth and friendliness of a B&B! Rooms are beautiful, food delicious, great location and very handy gps monitors for you to borrow -pre loaded with key sites! Also great audio tours for the national park. They were even kind enough to let me use the phone. Thank you so much, Lucy and Ben

Melissa and her friendly staff made sure our visit was lovely from the moment we entered till our departure. The Inn was charming, quaint and beautifully maintained both inside and out. Extra attention was paid to those creature comforts that travelers deeply appreciate - a lovely afternoon tea, current and informative brochures, excellent suggestions on dining and activities, bottled water and a large and varied collection of DVDs for the evening if desired. The gas fireplace in our room gave it even more of a cozy feeling. Our room 4 had a little balcony and it was mild enough to sit outside, tea in hand. Breakfasts were tasty and well-plated. Coffee was excellent. The Inn was located on a lovely street a short walk from central Bar Harbor and convenient to Acadia National Park as well.
As a former Inn owner, I was especially sensitive to the inner workings of the Primrose Inn and I found it to be of excellent taste and quality for the guests as well as behind the scenes.
Don't miss it.

Room Tip: We loved room 4 with its balcony, comfy bed, gas fireplace and beautiful appointments.

This was a fabulous find! We stayed at the Primrose in September 2012. The staff are AWESOME, the food was GREAT, the location was PERFECT and the bath robes are FABULOUS! They are under new management and they can't do enough for you. It was a very comfortable stay! Very clean, very quaint and walking distance to downtown Bar Harbor. I will recommend to anyone I know staying in Bar Harbor!!

Looking for an amazing wonderful romantic getaway? Well look no further, you've found your slice of heaven! Beautiful, luxurious, historical they have really thought of everything! We stayed in the Leffiingwell room complete with fireplace, king size bed and romantic private jacuzzi tub for two complete with your choice of complimentary bubble bath fragrances. Dry yourselves with soft Turkish towels, light the fireplace with the flip of a switch and you are in for the romantic experience of a lifetime! Awaken to a sumptuous feast such as apricot stuffed French toast with real maple syrup and you'll be sure you've died and gone to Heaven! Couple that with genuine friendly hospitality, the beauty of Acadia National Park and you're in for a real treat. If you're looking for a luxurious romantic getaway look no further.

I stayed at the Primrose Inn in September. The rooms are lovely and the staff is excellent. We were warmly greeted upon arrival and were given a full orientation. This is a place where they go the extra mile: Afternoon tea, complimentary sodas and water, several relaxing little nooks (indoors and out) to enjoy the afternoon sun or read a book. They even have pre-programmed GPS units that guests can borrow to find restaurants and shops that are away from the center of Bar Harbor. We very much enjoyed their breakfasts and afternoon tea. We also enjoyed that they are a couple of blocks away from the center of town. Close enough to walk to all the shops and restaurants, but far enough to be quiet. The staff is knowledgeable about the area and were able to recommend several excellent restaurants. I would definitely stay there again.

Room Tip: We stayed in Room #3 and it was near the stairs and quite comfortable

The internet has given independent visitors from abroad far more choice. Previously the average foreign traveller would choose 'run of the mill' chain hotels but nowadays they can instead experience such inns by using similar sophisticated online booking systems. This undoubtedly has dual advantages to both the innkeeper and the traveller, the former being able to offer a service second to none and gaining plaudits accordingly and the latter being able to receive exceptional hospitality. I am now a convert to such B&B's, whether I find one as good is debateable. All other reviews detail the 'ins and outs' of the Primrose and all I can add is that it really is in a Different League.

This is a nice, comfortable B&B near downtown Bar Harbor (it is a several blocks walk). Staff was helpful and pleasant. They offer GPS units for loan and Washington Post and NY Times on Kindle as well as the local paper. There's a choice of breakfasts (egg dish or a waffle/sweet bread option). Our only complaint was traffic noise at night since they are on a main street, but they do provide a white noise machine which helps some.

Room Tip: Try to get a room facing the back.
