“Excellent Location - Exceptional Service”
Reviewed June 18, 2010

My husband, our son and I stayed at the Manor House Inn for four nights in June. We had Rooms 5 and 6. Both rooms were very spacious and comfortable. We were greeted upon arrival and taken to our rooms by Janie, who was very cordial. We settled in our rooms and then walked a few blocks to town for dinner. This Inn is an excellent location for walking almost anywhere in Bar Harbor. The weather was a mix between sunny and rainy, but we were very comfortable leaving the windows open. An air conditioner window unit was available to use if we desired. This street location is a busy traffic area, with lots of construction going on at this time in Bar Harbor, but most of the traffic noise didn't begin until about 7:30 am. It wasn't unbearable. The breakfasts were wonderful. The items offered each morning were described by the hostess on duty. We especially enjoyed the blueberry stuffed french toast. A nice assortment of snacks were available in the afternoon along with hot tea or lemonade. We would highly recommend this Inn to our family and friends and would love to return and stay there again.

I just got back from a 4 night stay ( 05/27 thru 05/31 , 2010) in Acadia Northeast with my wife. We loved it immensely. The room was clean- daily room cleaning was excellent. All the used towels and toiletries were replaced daily. The breakfast fare changes daily and is very delectable. I had warm bread pudding, egg quiche, different muffins, fresh fruits, yogurts and peaches, oat, cereals etc during my stay. The afternoon snack with tea and coffee is an added bonus.

Bar harbor downtown area is 2 blocks walking distance so a big plus since car parking in the market area can be tricky during busy times/weekends etc.

I had dinner at Galyn and Cafe this Way - these 2 places had really good food. Grams pizza sells decent pizza pie.Tried other places like Miguel and Side street cafe was just passable food places.

I loved doing ocean kayaking with Aquaterra Adventures, highlight of my trip. The store owner Jeff is an expert kayaker with whom we had a lot of fun and adventure. Also went on a whale watching trip with bar Harbor whale watch company- very well run and excellent in chasing whales for good view. We lucked out in watching 5-10 different whales on the trip.

Acadia National park is 2-3 miles from the inn is just mind blowing- Sands beach, Precipice, Otter cliff, Cadillac Mountain and Jordan Pond House are all fun. Finally the shopping scene on Bar harbor Main street is interesting and touristy.

In all the Inn keepers and staff are very friendly and accomodating. A very well run
establishment- will return back when I visit Bar Harbor again.

This was the find of our 5 weeks in the US. The room was spacious, comfortable and clean. The breakfast excellent. Location is very good - but Bar Harbor is quite small.

Just got back from a three-night stay in one of the Garden Cottages. We loved it! We had plenty of room, including a little sitting area with a fireplace and TV. The Inn is convenient to the "downtown" area. We walked to dinner every night, walked to shopping, the pier and the park to "people/boat watch." The drive to the National Park was so quick, we couldn't believe it. The staff members were very friendly and accommodating. Breakfast every morning was DIVINE. We especially enjoyed the breakfast bread pudding with warm, apple cider sauce. Oh my gosh!!!

We stayed at the Manor House Inn for three nights on a recent trip to Maine. As soon as we arrived, Janie the hostess welcomed us and took us on a tour - even before we actually checked in. Like one of the other reviewers, we stayed in the Chauffeurs B room and found it very pleasant and roomy and we enjoyed relaxing and reading in the small sitting room with its fire place. The king bed was very comfortable - minor caveat is that it is somewhat higher than most beds so one has to climb in but once in it provided a great sleep. Plenty of hangers in the large armory. The bathroom also was roomy with a tub and shower. We also liked the breakfast with its variety of offerings including at least one hot dish. And we got excellent recommendations for dinner places. We would definitely book there again.

My wife and I spent one night here last week. All-in-all, we were pleased with our stay at the Manor House.

Positives:
-Good afternoon snacks during the afternoon tea. Lemonade and ice water were also available if you're not a tea drinker.
-Good location to the downtown area of Bar Harbor. It was only about a two block walk to get over to the north end of Main Street.
-Delicious breakfast.
-Plenty of common space within the house to spread out and relax.
-Lots of chairs on the front porch to relax on a nice day.
-Wi-fi available throughout the house as well as on the front porch.
-Comfortable room and decent sized bathroom area.

Negatives:
-We would consider staying again at the Manor House the next time we are in the Bar Harbor area; however, if we were to stay here again, I would request a room that faces away from the street. With the nighttime temperatures cooling off into the 50s, there was no need to run the central A/C; however, the room we stayed in (Room #6) had two windows that faced directly toward the street. We found that there was quite a bit of vehicular and pedestrian noise from the main road around the time we went to sleep. There are several guest rooms that face the main street, so be aware of this in your room selection.

We are two couples that just spent a week in Maine and found the Manor House to be an exceptional place to stay. The location is 2 blocks away from the main section of town and within walking distance to everything. We stayed in the Chauffeurs Cottage unit B and found it to be very comfortable. The room does not have TV but that didn’t matter to us as we don’t watch TV. The room has a very nice appointment of furniture and also had a gas fireplace which was very nice for the chilly evenings. Bathroom is standard size with plenty of hot water. Our friends stayed in one of the Garden Cottages and it was very comfortably decorated. They had a TV, small refrigerator and a gas fireplace. The grounds are very well manicured and the buildings are well maintained. Breakfast was very good and in the afternoon they would put out snacks, coffee and tea. Janie, the host that we usually talked to, was very helpful and made good recommendations. This is a very nice place and I would highly recommend it.
