Took a last minute Fourth of July visit to Maine. Chose Manor House Inn thru AAA Carolinas. Turned out to be a great choice. This is a nice bed and breakfast inn with nice rooms, nice owners, and very nice breakfasts. The Inn is only a couple of blocks from the waterfront and the main tourist streets. We had a very short walk to the fireworks which were wonderful!! Good restaurants within a five minute or less walk. Short, easy drive to Acadia National Park which was beautiful! We'll definitely stay at the Manor House again when we return to Bar Harbor!!

We enjoyed everything about our stay here. When we first arrived, we were relieved to find plenty of off-street parking since Bar Harbor tends to be a bit crowded in the summer. We were warmly greeted by Janie, the Night Manager, and got to meet one of the owners, Stacey, the next morning at breakfast. The inn is well-located near the harbor, with lots of restaurants and tourist shops within an easy walk, so we left our car and walked everywhere--including to the FREE trolley that goes all over the island. The interior of the inn is charming with Victorian style furnishings. The common areas include a large dining room and parlor, and the best butler pantry ever (amazing woodwork here) where a delicious breakfast is laid out every morning self-service style--fruit, cereal, pastries, and something hot like quiche or frittata. We had a room on the third floor--a bit of a climb--but very quiet and private once there. Our room was very cute--with a bedroom-sitting area, a pass-through room for suitcases, a great dressing room-reading area plus private bath. The wallpaper job in this room was amazing, what with all the nooks and crannies--every line was matched which illustrates the effort the owners make to get all the details of their Inn operation done to perfection. The grounds are spacious, with seating and tables scattered about, along with some smaller cottages. But our favorite part of the inn was the extremely spacious wraparound front porch, furnished with wicker rockers and chairs. It was here that we enjoyed afternoon tea (laid out daily in the butler pantry), with a choice of tasty cakes, juices, and tea. We added our own bottle of Maine blueberry wine and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. This is a great place to unwind and be pampered!

Room Tip: We were in the back of the Inn, away from West Street, so our room was quiet. Although we loved our...

This is an extremely well maintained property. Our room was expansive and comfortable with a working fireplace. The public areas are very nice and there is plenty of outdoor space on the massive porches and the gazebo in the side yard. There are several buildings on the property, ranging from the original mansion to an almost new house in the rear. Afternoon tea was great; the tasty treats were all very good. Located on West Street, this inn is within walking distance of everything in Bar Harbor, and in the summer, that is a VERY good thing. You can leave your car at the inn and walk to lunch, dinner, and shopping. Two minor areas could use improvement; there is adequate parking on the property, but being that the area is covered with gravel versus black-top, there are no delineated parking spaces, so this means that people sometimes take up too much space and don't leave enough room for additional cars. On the night that we stayed there, at least three additional cars could have fit in the lot had it been properly marked. Also, breakfast wasn't as good as we would have expected; the heated dishes are served in warmers and are made up in batches. Made to order dishes would have been much better. Over-all, a very good place; we will stay there again when in Bar Harbor.

Room Tip: From what we could see, the main house had the most to offer if you really like the B&B experien...

We stayed for 3 nights June 11-13. The location was great for site seeing. The breakfast was awesome. Room and house was immaculate. The staff/owners were very friendly and helpful, they did an excellent job all around. We didn't think we'd do the afternoon tea but with the location just a couple of blocks away we did everyday and found it very enjoyable. A good way to regroup for the evening. Highly recommend!

The Manor House is run by a staff of helpful and friendly women, beginning with Janie, the night manager, whose name I hope I have remembered correctly. This inn has really great public spaces: a roomy Victorian living room with comfy chairs, a working gas fireplace, and reading material; a fine wide porch with rockers and wicker; and a large dining room with a bay alcove. Breakfast and afternoon tea are self-serve in the butler's pantry. Our bed was firm (and high), bathroom was small but adequate. The inn is just a couple of blocks from the main streets of town. Everything was clean and well maintained, despite the age of the property, which is on the national register of historic buildings.

Room Tip: All the rooms were lovely, though the ones at the back of the house might have a bit less road noise...

Stayed for the second time in two years. Room was immaculate. We stayed in the Chauffeur's cottage top floor. Nice little deck to sit out on for reading and relaxing. Close to Bar Island bridge and all the downtown shops and restaurants. Very nice breakfast. We'll be back.

We headed over to Bar Harbor to run a 1/2 marathon... Unfortuanely health issues prevented that but we had a wonderful stay. The Manor House Inn is a treasure. Perfect diwntown location with all of downtown within a leisurely walk. We opted to stay in one of the cabins - Aradia Northeast. Beautiful room. Only 2 comments that prevented us from giving the Inn 5 stars - the pillows on the bed leave much to be desired and while the food for the breakfast buffet was tastey, the portions are small and not up to the caliber of the inn. God, but the vareity could be increased and portions definately increased. Granted, one can go back for seconds, but that could be eliminated just by increasing portions right out of the gate. But, other than that, th eowners aer wonderful, the inn beautiful, quiet, spacious and location can't be beat.
